  1. . I found this very rare Pete Alonso card from 1379 AD! http://leaptoad.com/mets/cards/PeteAlonso1379_large.jpg>

  3. Friday's Happy Outcomes: A win for the Mets and losses for Brewers, Phillies, and Dodgers. Unhappy Outcomes: Wins for the Padres, Braves, and Cardinals. The NHOP for the Dodgers has now dropped to .600, and the NHOP over the Brewers is all the way down to .267; this is the one that will get the Mets officially into the postseason. That Magic Number is only 16. Meanwhile, the Padres have moved ahead of the Phillies for the second Wild Card slot. 4. Florida became the 27th state on March 3, 1845. https://designshop-6aa0.kxcdn.com/photos/florida-usa-send-vintage-greeting-card-16534_16.jpg>
  5. Why no pinch runner for Vogelbach?
  6. Edgy MD wrote: The Thirty-and-a-Thirds have been eliminated. We're down to the last two groups! DRAMA! He's still in that range, at 36.1. (Or 36.3333 if you don't like "innings math")
  7. Newsday gets repetitive with its headline. I hope these two covers don't end up squaring off in the Tabloid Cover Derby. http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220409_NSD_02.jpg> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/2022/20220902_NSD_02.jpg>
  8. If the Mets play at only a .400 pace the rest of the way (12-18) the Brewers would have to go at least 27-5 (.844) to bump the Mets out of the postseason.

  10. Yesterday's action had three Happy Outcomes: Wins by the Mets and losses by the Dodgers and Brewers, and one Unhappy Outcome, a win by the Braves. The Cardinals, Phillies, and Padres were idle. The Mets' win over the Dodgers clinched the season series, which reduced the Mets' Magic Number over the Dodgers by three, to a still likely unattainable 38. 11. I voted 18. That will get them 102 wins and most likely a division title.
  12. The 28th state, Texas, entered the Union on December 29, 1845. https://designshop-6aa0.kxcdn.com/photos/send-greeting-card-vintage-texas-online-16569_68.jpg>
  13. Yes, this actually drops the Mets' Magic Number over the Dodgers by three. (Will be addressed in the NHOP update tomorrow morning.)
  14. Well, Guillorme would displace Marrero, I assume.
  15. Found this on CBS.com: The Triple-A regular season was originally scheduled to run from Tuesday, April 5 to Wednesday Sept. 21 this year. That is six days after MLB Opening Day to a week and a half before the end of the MLB season. The Triple-A season will still begin on April 5, though it will now end a week later, four days before the end of the MLB regular season. Under the old Sept. roster expansion rules (up to 40 players on the active roster) teams could simply call up any Triple-A players they wanted to have available when the Triple-A season ended. With the new Sept. roster expansion rules (only one additional hitter and pitcher), all those Triple-A players who could be called up at some point don't really have anywhere to go to stay sharp. Expanding the Triple-A season allows them to stay game ready deeper into the season.
  16. Is that locked in, or can they change it when needed during the month? I suppose some players will be sent home when the minor league seasons end and others will be on a taxi squad?
  17. I remember thinking about creating a medieval Mets baseball card for Schaefer years ago. It was going to be an R.A. Dickey card (which shows how long ago it was) but I never got around to it.

  19. And the Magic Number for the postseason will soon be in the teens.
  20. Only two Happy Outcomes yesterday, the win by the Mets and the loss by the Dodgers. Five Unhappy Outcomes, as the Braves, Phillies, Cardinals, Padres, and Brewers all won. But because the Mets won, all of the Magic Numbers have decreased and so have the NHOPs. 22. The 29th state was Iowa, which gained statehood on December 28, 1848, back when Hector was a pup. https://designshop-6aa0.kxcdn.com/photos/iowa-vintage-greeting-card-16539_56.jpg>
  23. Is this the first time a Mets player has worn a uniform number that rhymes with his name?
  24. I'm a little surprised that that's possible. SNY's coverage often veered away from the game action because of player interviews.
  25. All of the Magic Numbers are from the Mets' perspective. The Magic Number for the Mets to finish ahead of the Dodgers is 43. The Dodgers' Magic Number over the Mets is only 25.
