I've been playing some online Acrostic puzzles lately, and decided to try my hand at creating one. (I found a utility that makes it pretty easy. Doing it by hand would be maddening.) Anyway, here it is. It's Mets-related, so it belongs in this forum. If I make more of them I may fully incorporate it into the UMDB. If you've never done an Acrostic before, you fill in the answers in the lower section and as you do, you start to be able to fill out the boxes in the upper part, which contains a quotation. The first letters of each solved clue at the bottom spells out the author of the quote. The Mets, by the way, have clinched the season series against the Phillies. They are 11-4 against Philadelphia, with four games remaining. Because of the new tiebreaker rules this year, the Mets' Magic Number over the Phillies, which would appear to be 37, is actually 36.

I'm stuck with the Phillies announcers. Said that people were making fun of the Phillies for signing Realmuto instead of McCann, but the Phillies have been vindicated. Huh???

Bassitt and Walker are going to be free agents. Walker has a player option that he's expected to decline. Bassitt and the Mets have a mutual option for 2023, but it's not expected that Bassitt will take the option. Carrasco has a team option that will vest for 2023 if he reaches a certain number of innings. (I think it's around 175 for this year. He would need about 50 more.)

The Mets didn't "walk away from Soto and a lifetime contract". They opted not to trade for a player who has two and a half years before free agency. It's not like there was a contract on the table with Soto, a player they never even had a right to talk to, and they withdrew it.

I wish I had the option to watch this in standard def. I think Apple is using a higher resolution image, which is why it looks so good, but I'm having very annoying buffering issues.

I managed to jump through all the hoops and install Apple TV on my Samsung smart tv. Turned it on just now and the game being offered was Padres Nationals. I thought it meant a local blackout, but I was able to scroll to the right to find Mets Phillies.
