  1. I hope they keep Verlander and Quintana. Along with Senga, that will give them three starters. I don't know where they go after that; they'll need another four options, maybe including Peterson and Megill, but I hope those two aren't in the Top Five. I agree that a mix of youth and experience is best. One of the things that concerned me about 2023 was two guys in the 40 years old/$40 million neighborhood. Let's not do that again.
  2. [bIGPURPLE]FINAL CALL![/bIGPURPLE] Benjamin Grimm wrote: http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/warning.gif> http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/Cast your votes now! Voting for all games played through July 20, the home series against the White Sox, will close on Tuesday, August 1. If you haven't yet voted for any of these games and plan to do so, please get your votes in some time over the next seven days.
  3. Another eight. I couldn't think of a Cub with 3,000 hits. My guess of Ernie Banks failed. 5. I think the thing that will linger with me the most is his Game 1 start against the Padres.

  7. Meanwhile, there are reports that the Mets and Astros are deep in negotiations about Verlander.
  8. Right now the Mets need outfielders more than infielders, especially if Canha and Pham are on the way out.
  9. Andy Martino says Luisangel Acuna would be included in the deal. He's 21, and having a solid season in the AA Texas League. #71 prospect in all of baseball. Born on Darryl Strawberry's 40th birthday.
  10. Yet another eight for me. I picked Don Buford for the Red Sock/Oriole. I should have picked Don Baylor. Or Damon Buford. Or Damon Baylor, if such a person exists. 12. Especially all of the left-handed-throwing first basemen. You can be pretty sure they were never catchers or third basemen.
  13. I think that's the question. Is it allowed to designate the PTBNL in the way suggested above? It may or may not be.
  14. The Harry Chiti thing likely wasn't prearranged.
  15. I wanted to do Sparky Anderson for Tigers/Reds.
  16. They look like they could be brothers.
  17. I would have preferred getting someone closer to the big leagues, maybe a AAA outfielder or starting pitcher, but I have to assume that the Mets made the best deal that was available to them.

  19. I only got a six this time. I whiffed on the entire bottom row with the Rockies. 20. He means that the Mets aren't playing in DC tonight. They're playing in Queens.

  22. Another eight for me. There are only five Padres who hit 40 homers, and unfortunately, Manny Machado wasn't one of them. 23. =MFS62 post_id=132855 time=1690405061 user_id=60] One person will be staying put. MLB just announced Rob Manfred had his contract extended and will be commissioner until 2019. Later
  24. I think goo can be slimy.
  25. I had Jerry Grote as my Astro/Royal.
