Although it's close, the Phillies at the moment are an "under" which means that if the contest were to end today, I'd be correct with four of my eight guesses: Nationals, Cardinals, Reds, Dodgers. And I'm wrong about the Phillies, Rockies, Marlins, and Cubs.

It really seems counter-productive, in a way, for the media to be behaving like this. They now have a Mets manager who speaks candidly and is colorful. Don't reporters love to get good quotes? But by jumping on and distorting every word he says, they run the risk of making him as bland with his quotes as Willie was. If I was Jerry Manuel, I'd be tempted to stop saying anything other than platitudes like, "We battled" and "We have to play one game at a time" and stuff like that. Sheesh!

Right now Pedro and Perez are the weak links in the Mets starting pitching. Vargas was okay; I don't know why they did the DFA thing to him. I'm really not sure what the other options might be. Tony Armas, I guess. I doubt that Niese is ready to step in.

I want to see blue caps in EVERY road game from here on in.

Why haven't they cut him yet??? Replace him with Nick Evans!
  12. Benjamin Grimm
Do they have a new manager yet? Or is Kevin Morgan still doing the interim thing?

First Met ever to drive in 9 runs in a game. Breaks a 32-year-old record held by Dave Kingman. I'm reserving a whole six-pack of Schaefer for Mr. Delgado.
  15. Benjamin Grimm
Now Delgado gets a THREE-run homer! This should shut up the "cut Delgado" crowd for a while!

It gave me a warm 2006 feeling.

But if the Mets score three or four runs in the 6th, I might be tempted to squeeze another inning out of Pelfrey. But with a two-run lead, I'd be inclined to go to the pen. I'm tempted to squeeze another inning out of Pelfrey.

And after a bunch of foul balls, Pelfrey gets Jeter to ground easily to Delgado.
  22. Benjamin Grimm
Yeah, so much for the easy inning. Now Jeter's up with two on and two out.
  23. Benjamin Grimm
The blue caps and the grey uniforms really do look good! 87 pitches for Pelfrey so far, with two out in the fifth.
  24. Benjamin Grimm
Oops, scratch that: It's an error on Castillo.

With one out, a bad-hop single by Betamit.
