He's from Florida. metirish Mar 30 2009 08:44 AM How about no nickname for him , I just couldn't see myself typing out" The Irish Hammer" or whatever the Florida equivalent would be . soupcan Mar 30 2009 08:46 AM How about 'Dan'? Benjamin Grimm Mar 30 2009 08:52 AM Nicknames are better if they just come up spontaneously. Along the same vein, there is a guy on a NYC sports talk show that is pushing a nickname on Murphy that was the name of some piece of equipment used by firefighters. I don't remember what it was, but he was saying that it is a versatile piece of equipment, the way Murphy is a versatile player. And it ties into the NYFD's Irish heritage. Heh, sadly it falls into the "its not good if you need to explain it in more than 5 words" category. I could practically go down the whole Rangers roster like that. Bettsy, Orrsy, Korps, Staalsy, Gomer, Cally, Nazzy. It's a shame that nobody on the team actually uses Lauri Korpikoski's fan-adaopted nickname, Korpedo. Edgy DC Mar 30 2009 11:55 AM The News still hasn't cleared up the error.
