  1. ="Gwreck":29g0w6na]I wonder if there will be the "good luck" floral wreath presentation tonight. Saw no reference to it in the press notes.[/quote:29g0w6na] Well? Was there? Gwreck Apr 13 2009 10:07 PM Yes, it was indeed there, with Bill Shea Jr. and a couple of other family members presenting it to Jerry. 8. Oh, and thanks to Metfairy for staying on top of the Schaefer threads in my absence!
  9. Common sense would dictate that you don't want the sun setting in the batter's eyes.
  10. Was Rodriguez' inning really that much more valuable than the innings pitched by Putz and Green?
  11. When I first saw this thread title I thought it was referencing something in the bible.
  12. I guess Sabathia is not a true Yankee.
  13. I am going to be away (on a short vacation to New Orleans) from Wednesday to Monday, so there won't be any Schaefer tallying for a while. Please keep starting the threads after each game, and I'll start posting results next Tuesday after I return. Please be sure to finish all voting for the entire Cincinnati series by the end of the day on Monday, April 13. Oh, and LeiterFasterStrongerWagnerMookieQuickerShamsky, you awarded 11 points for the game of April 6. Please edit when you get a chance. Thanks!
  14. Box score Santana 3.5 Green 1.25 Putz 1 Rodriguez 1 Murphy 2 Delgado 0.5 Church 0.5 Castillo 0.25
  15. True, but at 37 degrees these are pretty abnormal conditions. I don't want to jump to any conclusions about the offense just yet.
  16. Santana bats in the 6th (and draws a walk.) I was wondering if Jerry would pull him after 5. Guess not!
  17. Good! Now let's get the five runs.
  18. Jerry was saying he doesn't want Santana throwing a no-hitter. He wants to be able to remove him after 6 or so with a five-run lead and a one-hitter going.
  19. I did that same puzzle in the Philadelphia Inquirer, so I'll abstain. Did you do the whole puzzle? I was able to complete it, but there was one answer that I got (by filling in the other clues) that didn't make sense to me. It was "Street to a Venetian" and I ended up with RII. Does that make sense? Did you get something different?
  20. Thank you. That's how I managed to be named spokesmodel.
  21. 1) Reyes: Stolen bases 52 2) Castillo: Games played 105 3) Delgado: RBIs 107 4) Wright: Rank in MVP voting 2 5) Murphy: Doubles 31 6) Beltran: Home Runs 29 7) Church: Games started 91 8) Schneider: Extra base hits 30 9) Sheffield: Home runs 6 10) Anderson: Plate appearances 21 11) Reed: Batting average .260 12) Cora: doubles 11 13) Castro: Home runs 5 14) Tatis: Games started 48 15) Santana: ERA 2.77 16) Pelfrey: Wins 14 17) Ollie: Strikeouts 182 18) Maine: Games started 26 19) L. 22. I've been reading that it's Darren O'Day who's in jeopardy, not Anderson. And I'm less pleased about that, since if O'Day gets sent down the organization could lose him. And if he was good enough to make the team, I'd hate to see him casually discarded.
  23. ]Meanwhile, in the NL East, the model has the Mets (Bukiet's favorite team) missing the playoffs on the last day of the season. "The model has been quite accurate with the Mets over past few years with the Mets slightly underperforming and the Phillies slightly over performing," Bukiet said. "If that repeats itself, it would spell another season of final game heartbreak to Mets fans." That would be absolutely unbelievable if it were to happen for a third consecutive season. Mets fan angst would soar to unimaginable levels.
  24. Hard to say. My hunch, as worthless as it is, is that they will play, since tomorrow's forecast also looks pretty miserable. Maybe the game will have a delayed start.
