  1. Maybe another farmhand like...Jim Bibby?
  2. Sid Fernandez?
  3. Wow, really? It's a shorter list than I would have guessed.
  4. Zack Wheeler?
  5. I start with the easiest one: Nolan Ryan.
  6. SNY's website did the math, and they're reporting that Verlander would have to average 9.1 innings per start (and not miss any starts) for the remainder of the year in order for his contract to vest. Good news for the Mets.
  7. Nineteen years ago... you're entitled to be a little fuzzy with your memory.
  8. Maybe it was this game at Shea? https://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=6960https://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=6960 https://leaptoad.com/mets/scorecard_graph.php?game=6960&font=1>
  9. The Mets have played twelve games in Anaheim and have won seven of them: https://leaptoad.com/mets/parks.php?ThisPark=43https://leaptoad.com/mets/parks.php?ThisPark=43
  10. Edgy MD wrote: Every time the team goes to Anaheim, I think Willie Randolph-type thoughts. I think of Willie Randolph first, and Jose Reyes' major-league debut second.
  11. I've never been proud of that record. Any time a team approaches 120 losses, I root for them to get there.
  12. I want to make a joke about Snap, Crackle, and Pop but I'm too busy to think of one.
  13. I messed up on the Astros catcher. For some reason I thought Terry Puhl was a catcher. I then shifted to Jerry Grote, who should have been my first choice, but by then it was too late to get an immaculate score.
  14. He had a couple of moments of glory (if you want to call them that, given the nature of the cover) in the 2023 Tabloid Cover Derby. http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/images/2023/2023_1_14.png> http://leaptoad.com/mets/covers/images/2023/2023_02_06.jpg>
  15. Or a 17-game series! The Mets will be going to visit the White Sox for a three-game series beginning August 30. By then, the Sox will probably be the hottest team in MLB.
  16. The White Sox have lost a franchise-record 17 consecutive games. Their record is now 27-84 .243. In last place (obviously), 40 games behind the Guardians. They're now on pace to finish with a record of 39-123.
  17. http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/images/warning.gif> http://potg.leaptoad.com/mets/Cast your votes now! Voting for all remaining games played in July will close on Thursday, August 8. If there are any games that you haven't yet voted for, and intend to, please try to do so over the next week.

  19. That game against the Cardinals has the potential to be a tie-breaker that would keep the losing team out of the postseason. I expect that both sides know this.

  21. Nimmo was traded to the Reds for Jay Bruce? I don't recall that at all? What caused the deal to change?
  22. I suspect that Chris Bassitt is more likely to return than Scherzer or deGrom.
  23. White Sox are currently on pace to go 40-122.
