1. I think (with a seat-of-the-pants count) that 22 of the 64 possibilities will be eliminated from that chart on the previous page.
2. Since all of the games feature good teams playing other good teams, the coin flip method may be more accurate than it otherwise would.
3. Actually, I see 64 different scenarios. Over the weekend, each team can win zero, one, two, or three games.

[TH]Mets[/th][TH]Diamondbacks[/th][TH]Braves[/th]
4. I feel like I'm on the FiveThirtyEight site. I definitely want to avoid the scenarios where the Mets have to sweep on Monday. I don't like the odds of doing that.
5. That's really nice.
6. I liked it better when it was two teams from each league, and only first-place teams qualified. But those days are gone forever.
7. I'd be breathing a little easier if the Diamondbacks had lost yesterday.
8. Talk about shit shows. There's still a decent chance of eliminating Arizona over the weekend. That's the best case scenario, obviously.
9. National Weather Service forecast for Atlanta wrote: Tonight Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11pm and midnight, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 66. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between 2 and 3 inches possible. Thursday Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 73. East wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 2 and 3 inches possible. Thursday Night Tropical storm conditions possible. Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 65. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
10. Yeah, if the Mets have stamped their ticket to the postseason, they'll want the day off on Monday to rest up for Tuesday. I think the thing to do in that case would be to forfeit the game to Atlanta. Or, if roster maneuverability allows, send as many players as possible who won't be on the postseason roster and let them go through the motions.

12. And no word on any changes yet, huh?

14. Yes, definitely. That series has been at the front of my mind as well. We'll have to see where we are on Friday morning. (But ideally this will be resolved by Wednesday night.)

16. Of course not. That's why we're heading into this series with this feeling of suspense.
17. I suppose a test of that will be if the next expansion team goes to Nashville or to one of its suburbs.
18. I think it was nice too. I hope it was sincere. I just didn't like the part where he said that he hopes the Oakland fans continue to root for the Las Vegas version of the team. I'm sure some will, but many won't. And the statement may come across as insensitive.
19. I'm not sure they'd be "essentially tied". If the Mets win one of the three games in Atlanta, they would be 88-71, and the Braves would be 87-72. That's still an advantage. Ignoring the Diamondbacks, if the Mets and the Braves went on to have the same record over the last three-game series, the Mets would win the playoff spot.
20. =ashie62 post_id=171321 time=1727045808 user_id=90] Eddy Alvarez should be ineligible to play in MLB period
21. Jeez, I had already forgotten about Adrian Houser.
22. They have the advantage over the Padres and Diamondbacks. The tiebreaker between the Mets and the Braves will be determined this week.
23. I'm pretty sure I got this right, but please correct me if you spot any mistakes. These are the possible postseason alignments as of this morning:

[TH]Playoff Seed[/th][TH]Current Team[/th][TH]Other Possibilities[/th]
