Cubs LH Jose Quintana (9-11, 4.32)

Cubs definitely hearing footsteps.
They're coming off getting swept by the Brewers over the weekend, scoring a grand total of 3 runs in the process [0-2, 2-15, 1-3]
And the Brews aren't even their closest competition in the Central these days as they've now got a bigger challenge from the suddenly hot Cardinals [8-2 in Sept, 2.0 games out].
Those three teams find themselves tied up with the three in the West (yeah, we have to include the Dodgers these days) for a six-into-two playoff scramble.

Lineup:
C Willson Contreras is recently off the DL, SS Addison Russell now on it so Javier Baez slides over from 2B
Other than that, aside from Rizzo at 1B, Joe Maddon rotates the positions of the rest of the guys every two innings based on opposing pitcher, gut hunch, or possibly sun-spot activity for all I
know, so there's no point in trying to project things.

The lefty Quintana has made 10 starts for the Cubs with decent but hardly great results [4.03 ERA; 1.20 WHIP] since his mid-season trade from the crosstown ChiSox
We get a second LHP tomorrow as Harvey faces Jon Lester on Wednesday, then Thursday it's Lugo vs Mike Montgomery, all 8:05 starts as mid-week day games in Wrigley fade into oblivion.

We actually took 2 of 3 from them at our place back in mid-June when both squads were trudging along at just under .500
They've improved somewhat since then, us not so much.

A lineup posted as a list of Twitter handles instead of names? Sheesh. Good for Jason Heyward!

It's "Social Media Night," apparently.

I've gotta believe that if you were a fan of a team that didn't play the Mets in 2017 and these names were thrown in front of you, you might not get the ballclub on the first try.

I literally said the same thing the other night to my friend at the game about the Reds' lineup of Ervin-Peraza-Votto-Duvall-Gennett-Suarez-Schebler-Barnhart-Garrett. (If it wasn't for Joey Votto in the middle, anyway.)

Gsellman pitches out of trouble in both the 1st and 2nd innings. Currently at 38 pitches.

Zobrist making d'Arnaud look good by waltzing to 2nd on and attempted steal. Out by a mile.
Rizzo follows with a single. Gsellman is being too nitpicky. Approaching 60 pitches.

Bryant does not throw home due to Lags huge jump from third. Ha! Bryant sucks.

Mets up 1-0.

Yea, Gsellman likes to look at pitches. Usually 3rd strikes.

Shit, I never should have said he sucked. Cause he really didn't make an error. I usually reserve that kind of talk for a player error.
I'll take the blame. Dammitt.

4-1 Chicagoans

New York gets one back on a sac fly by d'Arnaud in the 5th. Gsellman done at 93 pitches. Tommy Malone takes the mound & walks his first batter. Grrrrrrr.

2-4 (-)Mets

Man, we can still play that homer game guys. Just 'cause the suits traded all the sluggerinos ... don't let the Cubs have all the phone.

Whoop, there it is, indeed.

Damn you Schwarber! That wasn't such a horrible pitch. He had to go get it.

5-2 that other team.

A Met pitcher just retired a leadoff hitter!!!!
Alert the media ... and Mr. Ripley.

First six innings tonight: Double - Single - Walk - Walk - Walk - Double

OK, so they don't all have 26 homers. It just seems that way.
That guy only has 22.

Did Ron Darling just crack up as they went to the break?

Because of the expression on the HR catching fans face out in left, if that's what you are referring to.
