Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Zack Wheeler vs Zack Godfrey, and a 9:40 PM start, which means, you know, get a nap in today. Gonna be a late one.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 At least it's not like games regularly last 3-1/2 hours or more these days ... oh wait, that's exactly what they do.7 of the 17 games played yesterday (two DH's) ran north of 3-1/2 including two that were 4-plus (one needed 10 innings). By contrast only 5 of the 17 clocked in at under 3 hours.IOW, we could be in for some late ones over the next two nights.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 I'll be happy to get to the 4th or 5th inning today. I am working from home so I will at least be getting a 1-2 PM nap in. That'll help a smidge.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Wheeler has emerged, to me as The Most Important MetTM.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Not gonna watch until they win.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I know what you mean. I'm kinda glad for the late start because it means I'll be less tempted to tune in.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Yesterday's game was the first one I've missed this year and it was by choice. I'm tempted to say I am out until they win, too...but the Mets are kind of like a drug for me. Even though I know it could lead to continued disappointment, I imagine that I'll still tune in.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Wasn't going to watch yesterday either but after gardening I came in to see them with a 7-1 lead. So I sat down and watched in horror.

The Mets have allowed a total of 35 runs in four straight defeats and were swept of a three-game set at Milwaukee after coughing up a six-run lead over the final four innings on Sunday en route to a demoralizing 11-9 loss.New York has scored 22 runs during its losing streak and Neil Walker is having a strong month of May, going 18-for-50 with six doubles, two homers, 10 runs scored and 12 RBIs in 12 contests. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Yes, I'd bunt all day long against this alignment.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Man that inside sider against the lefty suddenly doesn't seem so unhittable.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 1-0 good guys! Rene keeps hitting and d'Arnaud keeps on not being missed.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Amazing how Godley is the one who's issued five walks (one of the no-pitch intentional variety) and yet it's Wheeler with the high pitch count despite hurling a shutout so far.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Wheelie is our best pitcher this year. Which of us predicted that?
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I should say I admire the way Godley runs to and from the dugout
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 So tonight we're getting good starting pitching for the first time in a while ... but are getting one-hit.And we're going to need the bullpen to cover at least three innings.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Yup, three full innings needed from the pen, plus they're starting out with a runner on.And that's all if this doesn't go extras.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 A rare sighting of the Curtis Granderson assist. Big Foot or Jimmy Hoffa may be next. Now we just have to avoid the increasingly less rare sighting, the Hansel Robles first-pitch XBH.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Maybe time to get Sewald, huh Terry?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Robles keeps pointing to the sky on those bombs as if to signal a pop up. I think if he started circling that finger it would be more accurate. I can't remember a tougher stretch as a Mets fan.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 I've never seen anything like this.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Hmm. 31/2 home runs this inning.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Anyone else want to come out of the stands maybe to hit a HR?The beer vendor? Ball Boy? Ticket Takers?
