Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Philadelphia and Miami lose, so they move from fourth into a tie for second without even playing.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Friday very likely is a rainout. Pissing rain already at 6 am.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Well, that would be one turn not having to worry about the #5 starter.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Unless there's a doubleheader on Saturday or Sunday, of course.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Maybe it can rain until Noah and Ces are ready.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Did you gear Keith's passionate defense of Ray Ramirez before the rain delay? The booth were talking about Cabrera and the discussion that SNY showed between Collins and Ramirez....basically it was Ray Ramirez is a great trainer , a really great person and stop ragging on him on social media, these decisions come from people above him......it is fashionable to take the piss about Ray Ramirez , I did think Keith's defense was interesting to say the least.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 If the Mets built an ark, however, I imagine it would be heavily populated with relief pitchers and not enough position players.

"Ray is a good man" was his exclamation point on that topic. I didn't realize how much shit Ramirez must be getting.Players and management both want to keep guys healthy and on the field, but have different agendas. Ray's probably the middle piece that just wants to treat and prevent injuries the best he can. Whether he's better than his peers or not, who the hell knows. All the teams have lots of injuries.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Yeah, I think Keith was saying that Ramirez doesn't decide who goes on the disabled list, or who plays in a game. So if Cespedes returned to action too soon, it wasn't Ray's call. Nor was he the one who decided it was okay for Syndergaard to pitch on Sunday.

Hoping to kick some ass in that round.Well did you win?!?!?Talk about cliffhangers.

Who cares about the order in which the wins come? Its the total that counts. OK, it's against a division rival so there's that, I suppose. But not much more that I can see.I feel like the order does matter. I have no way of proving this, but it certainly seems to make a difference. Psyche, morale, etc.In the same way it feels like the order in which runs scored matters. The Mets were up 5-0, and eventually won 16-5. You could say it doesn't matter how the runs were scored, at the end it was not a close game. But I feel like had the Mets jumped in front 5-0, and then let Atlanta tie the game, the end result could have been much different. No way to back it up, but just a hunch.Maybe you and others are talking about something totally different.I agree that the order of runs or wins might yield a more pleasurable feel-goodiness factor. But I doubt that the order will affect the likelihood of the team winning any of its future games. And from that perspective, this now postponed game was no more or less important than any other. We got 16 of 20 (completely swung and missed on 2 songs, one by Rancid and the other by Daft Punk). The team that won (the other half of the grad students at our table) got all 20 points in the final round. I had fun, though it was a little strange being more than twice the age of everyone else out our tables.
