Did they replace it with Rick Up pointing downward?

That, plus Shawn Green turning blue.

second half of the season is probably when people in charge of this stuff start working on the revisions. Like how the Mets 2018 calendar comes out 10/1. (d'Arnaud, Lagares, Familia, Harvey, Lugo, deGrom, Cespedes, Syndergaard, Wright, Matz, Conforto, Gsellman) A lot of it's just projecting who they think will be marketable in 2018, and at the very best Collins wasn't/isn't a sure thing.

Don't let the screen door hit your ass Terry

That's another problem with the Mets. They need to get some heavier-duty doors. What is this? A summer bungalow in the Catskills?

With the warm weather these past several weeks a screen door is appropriate

Terry deserves a better send off than a door swing on the rump if
his stay is indeed over come Sunday, no?

Terry deserves a rousing ovation on his final home game with a scoreboard tribute and whatever else the team can muster for the guy who has managed more games than anyone else in franchise history, including a National League championship on his resume.

which would be tomorrow which makes the 'leaking' of this today/yesterday oddly timely.

this.
I'm somewhat taken aback by Cooby's atypical display of antipathy toward our soon-to-be former manager. Did Terry kick your dog, Coobster?

Mets bullpen coach Ricky Bones and the organization’s minor league pitching coordinator, Ron Romanick, are the top candidates to replace Warthen, according to sources. Frank Viola, who has spent the past four seasons as the pitching coach at Triple-A Las Vegas, is unlikely to be considered for the job, according to sources. It is unclear if Viola will remain in the organization.

I would have pegged the likelihood of Viola getting the job at around 80%.

Have the Mets ever elevated a bullpen coach to pitching coach?

I would agree on Viola.

I could be very wrong but I thought Frank had some serious health issues and appeared to be abit beyond obese.

If he passes the physical he's good. I would wish him the best in a long year of stress and travel.

Not sure I'd go with obese, but he did have heart surgery in 2014.

There was a report in one of the papers a few weeks back saying that Warthen had originally planned on retiring at the end of this season/contract but then was hoping for at least one more as he
didn't want to go out on a year where all his pitchers were injured and/or underperforming.
But of course that was never going to be entirely his choice and it sounds like Sandy et al -- and I do hope these are more Sandy's calls than F&J's -- are more in a clean sweep frame of mind.

Uh oh.

Terry Collins: No plans to retire, would like to stay with Mets

Excerpt:

New York Mets manager Terry Collins, whose contract expires after this season, has no plans to consider retirement and would like to stay with the team.

"I never said anything that I was going to retire," Collins told The Record on Tuesday. "I always wanted to work until I was 70. ... I can put something to rest: I'm not going to go home and go fishing. Whatever anybody thinks about if I'm going to be here or not, I can't answer that. But I'm going to be doing something."

I'd be OK if Terry stayed on a one-year deal.

I have no reason to believe giving him a "senior baseball advisor" role would do any damage to anyone. Fred loves old guys.

Mets are to announce Terry staying with the club in a front office role, Ken Rosenthal reports

Scooped all the beat reporters without even being at the game (I wonder if Sandy told him).

Say what you want about Terry. But he is a class act. Deserved better.
