Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Bobby Gsellman defends against Julie Teheran as the Mets host the Braves. Will there be healing? Who knows who will be in better shape since Sunday night? Who knows who will be hurt in the interim? Who knows what transactions will take place between now and then?Baseball. I can't say it'll all feel better by Tuesday. In fact, it likely won't. But maybe it'll be warmer by then. Maybe.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 I would think that the Mets would welcome a rainout. The Braves don't return until September 25.

The Braves don't return until September 25.Which means they'll either try to make it up on Wednesday (Braves aren't going to want to play two on a get-away day - they head to Milwaukee for a Friday game) or find a mutual off-day sometime this summer. But neither side (or the league for that matter) is going to want to put off a makeup until the final week of the season.Come to think of it, neither team is going to want to play a Wednesday DH followed by a day-game Thursday either. But, hey, the weather forecast is only showing temps in the 50s with Rain & Wind starting around noon today and going straight through to Wednesday morning ... so I think there may be a window!!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Of course I have tixx tonight.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Heavy rain predicted and even if it's light rain, they won't risk Cespedes on a wet field.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 Might as well back-date him on the 10-day DL at this point, then, right?

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Yanx at Fenway already called off.Don't have high hopes for this one.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Yo, too. Yeah, I'd be surprised if they got this one in.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Huge rain forecast up here has been a bust so far.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 Game off! Make up sked as a 4:00 DH in that final series in September 25th (shows ya what I know!!)Syndergaard and Harvey to stay in their sked Wed & Thurs slots, so Gsellman gets skipped this turn.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 GAH! I hate rain outs.TransMonk wrote:I don't think that's Micheal Been. I like the sax though. If you're gonna go Call go allthe way. zWhDbkTmJHA Vi-CfLsgLyk iExRMyRgMrI
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 It's probably for the best. I think they can benefit from two consecutive days off.Rescheduling for late September seems an odd choice. It may be a game that doesn't matter; the Mets may be either in or out of the postseason by then, but if it's a frenetic race for a playoff berth, that doubleheader may put them at a bit of a disadvantage. At least it will be after rosters expand, and they'll have a 28-man bullpen.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 Noah, you go tomorrow.Gselly, get the to the bullpen.Gilly, head down to Vegas and send me back some Reynolds.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 Vegas and Columbia already lost. St. Lucie losing.Binghamton is the organization's only hope.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 We may try to get to this one instead. I hate rainouts. I sat in my cube for 2 hours anxious about a postponement even though I knew that the way things were going now it would be "good."I was reminded of the feeling to tuning into a Mets game on TV as a kid, getting all psyched at the "Meet the Mets" show opening, running around the den sliding hitting and pitching, then the live broadcast begins only to show a wide shot of Three Rivers Stadium with a tarp over the field and Bob, Lindsay and Ralph informing us the conditions didn't look good.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 And then they'd cut to the Million Dollar Movie!
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Kinda jonesin', I know they suck and all but I haven't watched a full game of suck since Friday night.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 From my perspective as a kid the 4:30 Movie > Million Dollar MovieI don;t know if that was actually true tho

At least it will be after rosters expand, and they'll have a 28-man bullpen.Weird situation with a division opponent having their three road trips in April, April, and then not again until the final week of the season. Can't really schedule a DH for Wednesday with Thurs being a day game. Don't want to double up on Thursday because it's a get-away day for Atlanta. So that leaves giving up a day off (assuming they could find a mutual one) or waiting until late September and, if I were a player, I'd probably be pretty protective of my off-days too.I was wondering if anyone considered using ASG Thursday as a kind of universal make-up day? But I figure that the union wanted that four-day break rather than three so the players probably consider that to be off-limits.Starting next year the season is going to be three days longer -- same number of games but 'spread out' across 185 days instead of 182 -- so perhaps rescheduling on a mutual off day gets easier.
