Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Organaization tries to simultaneously wiggle out of roster pinch and payroll pinch, dealing off short-time Met and current #7 or #8 starter to the Orioles for Norm Ca$h.[fimg=500:2jdhq395]http://mediadownloads.mlb.com/mlbam/2016/08/14/images/mlbf_1048506983_th_45.jpg[/fimg:2jdhq395]#chinstrapsneverlast
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 This to make room for Salas, I assume?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 That's certainly the short-term benefit.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Took the ball and started down the stretch when needed. Surely wasn't in the gameplan.Gaby, we hardly Yknewa.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 Well, they certainly need the roster spot, but there is a reported payroll crunch due to the inability to deal off Bruce or Granderson before signing Salas and Blevvy. A lot of articles the last two days have reported that Lagares is being shopped again. If this deal not only gets them a roster spot, but helps save Laggy's skin, then well played.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I thought the Mets thought well of Ynoa. I don't like dealing SP's at the point.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Starting pitcher in highest combined uni number starting lineup ever vs. Minnesota last Sept. Offhand I think he's the only 63 in club history.Edit -- how could I forget Chris Schwinden
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 Yeah, I feel like he could be good too.Woulda rather shipped out someone like Ty Kelly or something.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 10, 2017 Author Posted February 10, 2017 It'll be really interesting if Ynoa and Logan Verrett both manage to crack the Baltimore rotation after both being acquired for cash from the Mets this winter.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 I had high hopes for him. Hopefully he'll do well in Baltimore (unless the Orioles face the Mets at some point).
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 That photo makes it look like he has a big ugly penis.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I liked Ynoa. He was serviceable. Remember this game?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 11, 2017 Author Posted February 11, 2017 Looks like a game where he's being yanked. And if it's one of his two starts, then he's being yanked before going five.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 It would be nice if Sandy traded for a player that could possibly help in the future rather than cash but he knows better.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I always got the impression Ynoa was a considered a fringe-MLB pitcher even if all went right, not that that's anything to sneeze at, but you really gotta consider this a "trade" of him for 1 year of Salas, since they're taking one another's places on the club.I'm not exactly putting a ton of faith in Salas either of course.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Ynoa replaces former Mets wunderkind catcher Francisco Pena on the O's roster. Pena is "only" 27 and found his way into 23 MLB games with the Royals and O's the past three seasons.

I remember how shocked he was when TC came out to pull him. A card worthy moment.http://ultimatemets.com/gamedetail.php?gameno=8853
