Zach Britton and Kenley Jansen. Did Familia get robbed here?

I'll repeat here what I spent much of the second half of the season saying, I don't think Familia was the best reliever on the Mets this year.

Funnily enough, Reed and Familia each pitched exactly 77 2/3 innings this year.
Reed gave up fewer hits, fewer walks, fewer runs and struck out more batters.

Hansel Robles, as fate would have it, also pitched exactly 77 2/3 innings. Struck out one more batter than Familia.

I'm not sure this is the right place for this thought, but I'm thinking Seth Lugo might end up being a pretty terrific reliever.

Gsellman, I feel, would have a tougher time making a transition to the pen.

Dunno. Maybe I'm too high on Lugo right now.

That's neat. I hadn't noticed that.

Put another way, Reed recorded the same numbers of outs while facing 17 fewer hitters; aka: 17 extra guys who reached base facing Familia. Robles, also recording that same number of outs, put 31 more hitters on base compared to Reed, 14 more than Familia.
The only stat where Reed was worse than Familia in 2016 was HRs allowed: 4 to 1 ... well, one until the WC game anyway.

There are help lines for that.
Don't wait too long to call. Lugo is often cited as a gateway drug to harder stuff.

I know what you mean. I had a friend who just smoked a little Reed in college, maybe a few Stokes when he went out. In his twenties he started mixing Rice with Velandia, and next thing you know, he's completely strung out on Matsuzaka.

Such a sad story.

I knew that guy. He would always Bogar the good Salas. Would never even Offer, Man.
