The Mets have 12 guys eligible for salary arbitration this year. Here's the list (2016 salary/expected 2017 salary per MLB Trade Rumors) --

these guys will certainly be tendered:
RHP Addison Reed: $5.2M / $11.1M
RHP Jeurys Familia: $4.1M / $8.8M
RHP Matt Harvey: $4.3M / $5.2M
RHP Jacob deGrom: $600K / $4.5M
RHP Zack Wheeler: $546K / $1M

these guys will probably be tendered:
1B Lucas Duda: $4.2M / $6.7M
IF Wilmer Flores: $520K / $1.9M
C Travis d’Arnaud: $540K / $1.7M
LHP Josh Edgin: $500K / $800K

these guys probably won't be tendered:
C Rene Rivera: $443K / $2.2M
OF Justin Ruggiano: $180K / $1.5M
RHP Jim Henderson: $507K / $1.4M

I'm off the Edgin Bandwagon myself. Not that he matters a whole lot either way, just seems like one of those guys who's destined to be a lefthanded journeyman, beginning his journey.

I'm not necessarily on it, but his raise is basically nothing. Unless the Mets make a ton of moves and need the roster space, I doubt he's non-tendered.

Yeah, there's something to be said for the fact that they carried him through his hurting year, so they might as well carry him through a more healthy one.

But it's a roster spot, and he's out of options. So I'm of two minds.

Hi. I just want to say that if anyone wants to throw Josh Edgin's $300k raise (basically nothing) my way, I'd be happy to take it on.

Oh to have been a shitty middle reliever.

I'd call Lucas a probably but I'd be pretty darn surprised if either of Flores or d'Arnaud are allowed to walk.
Edgin is a probably not although, as mentioned, it's essentially minimum wage+ so maybe so, and even then you could probably bargain him down to $742,273.50 plus a reserved parking space at Port St Lucie.

Yeah, this. I'd be stunned to see them let Wilmer or Travis go for nothing.

i agree they'll be tendered... probably. And i think they should be. But they each have injury issues, or positional issues, or production issues (or all 3), so i can't say that each of them is a mortal lock (on a par with deGrom). It depends on if the Mets make trades or sign FAs, or need to save $$ and/or a roster spot.

Agree - I'm just saying it'd have to be something extraordinary for the Mets to just let them go for nothing. I could see them trading any or all of them, however.

I don't tend to think the Mets have a lot of obvious guys they desperately need to protect from the Rule 5 draft. Amed Rosario is certainly an obvious one. Marcos Molina is coming off a lost year, but he's exactly the sort of guy a bad team would want to grab, hide in the back of their bullpen, pitch once a week, and farm him out the following season. Sewald, maybe Taijeron, but if the Mets were concerned about losing him they might have called him up in September to get a look at him.

Maybe Kevin McGowan. Hmmm... maybe their are a few guys worth shedding an Edgin to protect.

Those are all eligible guys?
Would seem Nido, Molina, Beccera, Rosario are guys with some chance to be good if not taken away in Rule 5. They also wanna see obviously what Oberste and Stewart can do.

Some shitty team might take Stewart just for his glove and his wheels if they're what I think I read they were.

Sewald and Pill are close. I thought for sure Sewald was gonna get a job after that great jb he did in the Vegas lid-lifter games early this season when the team really sucked.

I didn't spot Nido and Becerra. Yeah, they're likely getting 40'd.

Strange year for Wuilmer, though. He spent half of it hurt, and the other half, all his homers turned to doubles. His contact skills were there, though. He might get dangled.

He's the one legitimate power threat in the organization. Gotta protect him.

I need an agent, how does Duda get a small raise?

Who plays first base making over $7 mil (and is third year) and played in
fewer games than Lucadude last season?

Posted

Probably none, but of course MLB players aren't paid strictly on the results of their most recent season.

And now Travis d'Arnaud checks in with a $1.875 mil deal.

New York Daily News wrote:
The Mets and catcher Travis d’Arnaud avoided arbitration with a one-year, $1.875 million deal on Friday, a source familiar with the deal confirmed to the Daily News.

The 27-year-old had a terrible 2016 season, with 62 hits — only seven extra-base — and 15 RBI in 251 at-bats. But in 2015, he had 27 extra-base hits, including 12 home runs, in only 67 games.

On Friday the Mets also reportedly agreed to terms with lefthander Josh Edgin, righthander Addison Reed ($7.75 million) and righthander Jeurys Familia ($7.425 million).

Down to Harvey and Wilmer, and I can't imagine either of them hold out long, since they were both carried over the finish line last year.

Harvey in: $5.125 million plus $100K in "performance bonuses," per Wagner of NYT.

Wilmer, however, appears headed for the arbitration table, multiple sources report.

Hmmm.

Eh no biggie, there's still time for the two sides to reach a negotiated settlement. And, if not, then they go the arb route to settle things.
Arbitration isn't always the most pleasant solution, but even bad hearings are more likely to result in some temporary ruffled feathers than in Game of Thrones level blood and guts, and I can't recall hearing about even one player who cut ties with teams over whatever might have been said during a years-earlier arb hearing.
