Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Surprised to see Cespedes in today. Day game after a night game. Would have loved to get Conforto a start, but all three of those OF's smoked the ball last night.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Pre-Game Kwiz.As we know, Mets are on a 14-game win streak vs. CIN. The Reds last beat the Mets nearly two years ago this week. Name me:a-the Mets starting + losing pitcherb-the Mets' big RBI man that day - they scored 1 runc-the reliever (1 scoreless inning) who it turns out was making his final Mets appearance

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 I know that Gary gave the other side to the story on the last Cincy win during Tuesday night's game, noting that a bunch of guys no longer with the Reds were the main actors: Johnny Cueto with the win, save to Aroldis Chapman, HRs by Todd Frazier & Chris Heisey. The really sad part from a Reds viewpoint is that I don't think they got very much in return for dealing away all those guys - although Finnegan and some others may pay off down the road.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 I'll goa. Zack Wheelerb. Kirk Nieuwenhuisc. Daisuke Matsuzaka

Now we need the reliever. For me he's one of those guys on the "He was a Met?" team.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 The Reds are playing some really bad baseball today.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Did you say that before they got caught stealing home with Votto at the plate?
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Haven't heard Keith be so crotchety and angsty in a long time. It's hilarious.

I have to agree with Keith. I can't remember a team playing this badly in a long time. That said, there are still six innings left to play in this one. Plenty of time for Cincy to make up for their poor play...so let's score 11 runs in the 4th, Metsies!

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Ahh, not a straight steal. lol. Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a team so out of it.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Yeah but this game is giving me bad feels. The Mets are struggling to be up 2-0. They gotta have a big inning and put these turds away.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Good Grandy. The Mets have to lead the majors in solo HR's right? I looked up before the game and they were 4th in all of baseball in homers and 27th in RBIs. Good lawd.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 twitshit:The Mets have 26 home runs in their last 13 games and 191 on the season.Curtis Granderson becomes the first Mets outfielder since Carlos Beltran (2006-2008) to hit at least 25 homeruns in two consecutive seasons.Curtis Granderson now has 5 home runs in his last 24 at bats.Race is on for Granderson now with 25 HR. Fewest RBI in a 25-HR season belongs to Joc Pederson and Ron Gant with 54. Grandy has 45.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 Damn, Jose, just chill at 2nd, bro. Give Grandy a shot at an actual RBI.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 real bonehead play making the last out like that

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 And Terry somehow moved Grandson to the middle of the lineup at just the right time. The Mets are Kings of the Pinch Homer, aren't they?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 So between the HBP, the Reds checking their video guy to check on the HBP,manager Price going to the umps to talk them into a crew review so it'll be a challenge while not really being a challenge, the umpires convening to decide whether they want to go to the headphones, the umps going to the headphones and waiting to hear from headquarters in NYC to decided whether the HBP actually was HBP,the confirming of the call which led to the Reds changing pitchers (which likely would have happened anyway but, for some reason, wasn't done simultaneously with the review),and finally the warming up of the new pitcher (who should have be warm already),... we're looking at, what, maybe seven, eight, Ten?, minutes between pitches thrown? So, just like it's not the heat but the humidity, it's not necessarily the length of the game but the pace of that length.
