Stick him in CF. Let's go on our run.I mean, he's sucked against lefties in the majors and hasn't even been great against righties in a while, can't really play center well.Granderson and Ruggiano are fine for another week. Let Conforto really refine his swing against this garbage and show up for the Nats in Sept.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Keith loves Conforto's swing and has mentioned Conforto "looks like he knows what he's doing at the plate. Trouble against lefties? so far you betcha.Too much talent here to be riding the Vegas plane.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 If trouble vs LHP was his only trouble then he wouldn't have been farmed out in the first place. But starting May 1st he hit .160 w/63 K in 192 AB, and almost all of that came vs RHP.He'll be back when rosters expand next week unless Bruce's 'cramp' is in fact a fracture fibula in which case he'll be back sooner.

God, i hated that trade and I hate it more every day. I just know Dilson will come back to bite us in the ass; I can feel it in my bones.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 And a lot of dudes who call left field their best position.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 Here's what I'm getting for all NYM OFs combined in 2016: .238/.305/.434 // 739For all OFs minus Cespedes: .221/.290/.392 // 682NL avg OPS for OFs looks to be right around 760
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2016 Author Posted August 25, 2016 I'd play Conforto to play over Granderson. Since the All-Star Break:Avg .180 OBP .239 SLG .336 OPS .575
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 I'm also not above putting him at first and telling him to make believe he knows what he's doing.Loney is steady, but I think we have more than a good idea what his ceiling is and it's not high enough.

Fuck man. We need some bats.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I think I was a fan of teach-Conforto-first-base when the Duda man went down.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Jeez they should put Bruce at 1B
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Stop fucking around start De Aza over Bruce!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2016 Author Posted August 26, 2016 Conforto 3-4 with a HR last night.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 I'm asking this in all seriousness: which hitter leaves the roster if Conforto is recalled? On this roster, replace TJ Rivera with Walker: http://m.mets.mlb.com/roster/Ruggiano is a righty OF which they need and has done well.

If they were giving him time to better learn the new position, that would make a little bit of sense. Because he's sure not playing left or right when he comes back up.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Cody Ege and a washed up Tim Lincecum. It's good that he's hitting, but let's let him commit some of these good habits, like swinging at bad pitches in good places instead of the opposite, to memory a little more. He'll be here in a week.

Send Lugo to the minors until Sep. 5? There are no off-days between now and then, so he's needed if healthy. Same with Smoker. Ruggiano's been good, and none of the veteran position players have been bad enough to DFA and eat salary. Not for a marginal improvement in our outside chance to squeeze into a WC spot. So my guess is that we're stuck with the team we have until Thursday.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 For the month of September, they should be all-hands-on-deck in the bullpen. Add ten or twelve relievers if necessary. It will save on wear-and-tear on the pitchers' arms. The downside, of course, is that it will encourage Terry to make too many foolish pitching changes, but this may be a necessary risk given the current state of the pitching staff.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Well, they went all-hands last September, carrying 37 guys for much of the month and even going as high as 38 at one point, when they usually top out at 30 or 31. I was proud of them, and I expect something similar this year, even if half of all Met-loving twitter users will threaten to throw themselves from the Throg's Neck if Eric Campbell returns.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Conforto went 4-7 with a homer yesterday as the Mets split a doubleheader with the Salt Lake Bees. They took Tim Lincecum for 8 runs, 5 earned, in 4.0 innings.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2016 Author Posted August 27, 2016 Michael Conforto. 3 for 4 again. Yawn.
