It seems wise to perhaps reevaluate that expectation. At least for the short term. He's still young, and may yet blossom. And hopefully if he does, it will be while he still plays his home games in Queens.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Geez, just read that Wheely is going back to see the elbow doctor
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 d'Arnaud starts tonight against a team that has 4 steals this season... of home!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 We never did get a KTE for these guys back when we split a four-game series out there in May -- which is OK because it would be unusable now anyway seeing as how the entire team has turned over since then now has a almost a complete new cast of characters.C - Derek Norris is still there but is hitting .191 though with usual catcher's pop (12 HRs)1B - Wil Myers is a once highly-touted prospect who just starting to come into his own now that he's on at least his 3rd org and 3rd position change 2B - the only thing I know about Ryan Schrimpf is he's last in the league in vowelsSS - Alexi Ramirez is the Cuban ex-ChiSox who was one of the endless post-Reyes candidates we discussed here. Kind of good that Sandy et al didn't listen to whichever of us was touting him: .237/.273/.3273B - Yangervis Solarte had like six good weeks in the Bronx a couple years back before being dealt off for Chase Headley in a move the Yanx probably regret: .292/.357/.490; 11 HRsLF - Rookie Alex Dickerson has been playing lately because the name change didn't reverse the declining fortunes of Melvin UptonCF - Travis Jankowski (Seawolf is going to remind you that he was a Seawolf) took over when Jon Jay got hurt and might not give the job back. He runs .. A LOT! - 25 steals in just 187 ABs including home twiceRF - some rookie named Jabari Blash got the job when Matt Kemp was sent away in the latest episode of a team sending Matt Kemp away. Blash appeared in the May series but spent most of this year in the minorsThey sent away every pitcher who started against us in the series out there (Rea, Shields, Cashner, Pomeranz) even though they then got Rea back after he hurled 3 innings for the Marlins but he's DL'd now anyway. So we'll see former Astro/Marlin Paul Clemens on Friday. We should kick his ass just for the name aloneSaturday, facing deGrom, will be Jared Cosart who, just for variety, is a former Astro & MarlinSunday they've got TBD going against Matz. Not sure if TBD also pitched in Miami and Houston but I'm going to assume he did just to make things easier.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Ashie62 wrote:You could make the argument the Giants won the Beltran Wheeler trade.Beltran arrived, got hurt, didn't help them and left with no compensation by way of a draft pick. Wheeler gave the Mets a year and a half of pretty good pitching regardless of the injuries. Other than not having to deal with Zack's elbow, I don't see what the Giants won.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Explain why Verrett got another start and "there was no one else" is not a valid answer.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I thought 5-0 SD was a joke. There is nothing better than Verett to put out there?Games like this get managers fired. It would be some form of damage control.Movie time.
