One in the 7th, one more in the 8th, then three in the 9th and the Cleveland seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians" steal one from the Nats.
BAM!!

Not sure the Indians have beaten Washington this bad since Little Big Horn

And this was a bad beat too.

First off, in the top of the 9th the Nats loaded the bases with one out but neither Harper nor Murphy could get the extra insurance runs in.
Then came Papelbon already coming off a blown save in his last outing: Walk - RBI Double - Sac Bunt w/Error by Zimmerman ties the game - Int Walk - Bunt Single
** Out goes Papelbon, in comes Ollie Perez: Line Out - Game Winning Single

Who is the jackass sitting behind home plate practicing his bunting form?

Also trying to toss nuts into his mouth without taking his eye of the game ... and failing.

Finish this, Jeurys.

I gotta admit, I felt like I was tempting fate a bit by cackling over the Nats blown save whilst Holiday was up there representing the tying run.

Let's just say that Papelbon's negatives are so high in Washington right now that even Trump and Hillary are polling better!!!

I saw the squatter. Everyone back there was expressive in some manner. I thought a person in the upper right had a towel on her head but when I looked closer it was the SNY logo.

Mixed afternoon. Lose half a game (and our lead on the second Wild Card spot) to the Ichiro-powered Marlins, but pull stave off the Cards (who are just as much a threat) and gain a halfie on the Nats.

Yes, we really could have and should have swept, but we're just not dynamic enough.

Don't know how much play this got on TV but there was a breeze coming in form left that killed everything in the air. You really needed a low line drive like Jerkoff's HR to yank it out. dArnaud to my eyes just destroyed the ball to right field once but it just didn't have the legs tonight. On another night it's a breathtaking HR.

The between innings car race remains the stupidest thing in baseball and I saw it twice. The interns running the race can't even keep the vehicle-costumes level so the cars all look like they're tipping over the front wheels.

Lagares is a terrific CFer again, ranks atop the Eyewitness Defense ratings. Cespedes looks awful otoh.

So did the Cardinals outfielders, other than Phwam's nailing Grandyman. Kept waiting for him to turn back to 1st. It required a good throw but that's what he got. I suppose also a case of the ball looking like it would travel further than it did and he had a moment to set it up. Grichuk overrunning the ball was the real key offensive moment of game 2.

1st double header I attended since that awful sweep by Arizona in 2003 during the home-game losing streak that cost Valentine his job.

Saw the CPF's own Gwreck getting off the 7 at Court Square but he didn't see me.

And for the 2nd time in a week the entire season depends on Logan Verrett.

Not having a losing streak since the All-Star break is cool an all, but eventually this team is going to need to win a few in a row.

Lolol. Wish I could've been there for that

Anybody watching the replay, watch out for a skinny young bearded guy with a blue shirt behind the plate in the ninth. Lemme know if he appears any time sooner. He was rockin' it.

btw, the bats were a whopping 2 for 14 w/RiSP in this game, it just didn't seem so bad because
a) they won the game anyway
and
B) Asdrubal broke his streak

But 2 for 14 still reallllly reallllly suxxxx, especially when tacked onto the 0 for 5 in the first game -- and that doesn't even include the Sac Fly which technically is also an out w/RiSP just isn't scored that way because it gets the run in.
The only other hit? Lagares's replay-reversed single which didn't even drive in a run. So add it all up and it was 20 trips to the plate yesterday with a runner on 2nd, or on 3rd, or in some cases both, and all they managed was two hits, one of which never left the infield. And yet somehow they made it all seem like it was progress, which maybe it was considering where they've been coming from.
