Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) There are reports of a roster shakeup after this embarrassing Braves series. Some reports say that Conforto, who had the only hit on Sunday, is headed to Vegas to get straightened out. What else would you do?Walker played third in the minors. Move him there and bring up Dilson for second and send Flores back to his utility status?Deal with Henderson and Bastardo? Are there any Vegas arms we want?Plawecki or Rivera to Vegas when d'Isabled List Catcher returns? Edited June 20, 2016 by Guest
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Plaw will go down. I don't want to see Conforto go down but as I've said before, I'm not against it. I think he should be able to work this out up here. I have yet to consider him a liability. I have a little more faith in Henderson but you can bounce Bastardo's bubblebutt outta here. deAza= DFA. The reason we got him is no longer valid. I wanna see Dilson up. Nimmo up would be nice and if we are going to suck, might as well let us fans take a look see at him.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I see two guys, other than d'Arnaud, that could provide the spark we need and thats Nimmo and Dilson. However, Walker is just ok at 2b. Sooo... I have no clue.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Conforto's fine, star in the making. Did I mention huge? Stud?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Plawecki's certainly going down as soon as d'Arnaud is ready. Rivera has earned the backup role and, unfortunately, Plawecki is now 0-for-2 at grabbing the job that was there for the taking.I don't think Nimmo is coming up unless it's to play more or less full-time. It doesn't mean that once up he's up to stay, but it's essentially dependent on Conforto going down. I'd do it and I think Sandy et al are getting close. At worst he platoons with Lagares when he comes back or gets re-swapped with Conforto if he flops, but he can't flop any worse that Conforto is now.Walker to 3B with Dilson to 2B is possible down the road but not immediately. Besides the fact that Walker hasn't played there in a decade or so is that Flores would be the big loser in that swap and he's the one guy semi-hitting right now.EVERY fan on EVERY team bitches about their bullpen; the difference here is that ours has the best ERA in all of baseball. And while you might think it's easy to reach into a pile of unused relievers and grab two who are better than Henderson & Bastardo that's likely wishful thinking. Bastardo also has a two-year contract and I don't think they're bailing on that 1/3 of the way into year one. On the other hand it'll be trade time starting a few weeks from now.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I was thinking a of Lagares Nimmo and Conforto troika of some sort. Most teams bullpens are so erratic that I can't think of any improvements but admit I am tired of Bastardo. This is kinda insane but Pablo Sandoval is likely available.Later.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Agree. I'm done with Plawecki. He certainly can't say he didn't get a chance.Lagares was one of the few people who was hitting before he went down, so when he's back he's got to get more playing time. I'm okay with Conforto going down; he just needs to get his head straight and he'll be fine.I want to get rid of Granderson. I'm just tired of it. How can you have 13 HR's and only 21 RBI? That's virtually impossible to do. He just is a total fail with runners on base. And the noodle arm in right also makes no sense. He's always 'just about to turn the corner' but never does. Yeah, lots of lead-off home runs but bla, bla, bla, nothing else. The bullpen blows very few games for this team. But every starting pitcher knows if he gives up a run or two he's screwed.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Don't even bring him up in idle conversation!

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Honestly, I'm tired of this. I'm even tired of the speculation. I just kinda want to sadnap in between shifts at work/mornings with YoungerPooper until I hear a breaking news alert on my phone/computer.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Well, right now the brain-trust is in a conference room at Citi plotting the next move. Sadly, we no longer have a union guy onthe forum payroll to shimmy around in the duct work to let us knowwhat they're up to.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 That's because of those budget cuts from Stockholm.

That's virtually impossible to do.You know, I was going to write this off and say it's just that he bats leadoff and the guys at the bottom of the order are hitting a collective .150, but he's had 125 baserunners in his ABs -- fourth on the team -- and he's only scored eight of them (6%), which is, incredibly, a worse percentage than Eric Campbell (4 for 53, or 8%).
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Except for his own 'sucks' thread Curtis kinda gets a free pass by alot of fans. And geez, they're on the hook for another year for a bigchunk of change. Coach Grandy doesn't have the same bite as Cuddy, but he's basically Mr. Nice guy and clubhouse guy without much moremost nights. I always liked the term noodle arm, good one!
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Granderson started slowly but he's been better as of late. (excepting the last 4-5 games when no one really has)RBIs mean nothing.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 (edited) Grandy also has 59 NYM HRs in less than 2-1/2 seasons, plays everyday (not a small accomplishment on this squad), and was the top offensive player on the team in 2015 (acc to our end of season rankings) -- so it's not exactly like he's been getting one over on folks with nothing beyond a smile and batting eyelashes. That he's sucked all season so far in virtually every situation except for his 1st inning leadoff ABs has got to be more a fluke than a cause-and-effect character flaw so you'd have to figure there'd have to be some regression to the mean at some point. Overall his BA/OBA are down this year but not alarmingly so (closer to 2014 than '15) but his power is actually up a tick despite all his other problems.Ideally I'd prefer he NOT be a RF'er (but apparently Yoenis has RF-aphobia) and that they had a strong-ish RHB that they could sub in for him occasionally with the aim of slowly easing him out over the next year and a half, but we've got a long list of more pressing problems than that right now. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I gots nothing particularly bad to say on Curtis. He's turned it around in the past and I trust he's doing that now. I wish he'd strike out less, but I wish everybody would.Best places for improvement look like catcher, followed by first, followed by left.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 He's ponderingable. I think there's gonna be some crazy trade in about three weeks.Maybe four. But crazy. Crazy good.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Boy, Votto's dangerous with that long contract (2023!!!) and injury history.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Yup. It's a risk-intensive world. On one hand, he's making half of what Harper and Trout will soon be making. On the other hand, it's a leap of faith whether he will be half the player that they are going forward. But I thought it was a name to throw out. I'm not privy to Kongdreams.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Even David Wright turned out to be dangerous. Ask about Votto Mets
