Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 (edited) A leadoff gift-error is followed by a double, a deep fly and a passed ball and yet we manage not to score. ... and now a HBPYesterday it was three hits and a walk in the same inning w/no runs. Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 With SLIGHTLY better baserunning, the Mets would have had two runs at this point.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 I can't believe I'm agreeing here, but Reynolds is dead right. De Aza should have run on pitch one. Take the base, take away the force.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Shit.I'd like to complain about going down looking, but... that curve was Wainwrightian.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 And Granderson continues his amazing streak of suck with runners on base.I'd call this the worst game of the season except that I think it's only in the bottom four for this week!!
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Man, this team really tests your patience.

Did he think Loney was going to try and score on the play!?!?!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Team needs a shakeup. Worst game of the year. I've seen enough of Teufel at 3rd. Absolutely inexcusable. Terry also fucked up here. Gotta save De Aza to pinch run there. Awful awful game. Ty Kelly and Matt Reynolds again getting ABs with the game on the line.

With the Grandy shift you've already got a guy near 2nd, and there's no downside to at least trying to put De Aza out.And if Loney breaks for home then they get their second tag-out of the inning at the plate except that he'd be out by 35 feet instead of the 25 that Wilmer was out by.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 And Loney should have been on 3rd for that WP. If Kelly's ball goes over Inciarte's head he scores easily. If it's caught be should be tagging.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Boy, I wonder if Andy Grammer decided to bag the concert after that stinker.

I was VERY surprised Tueff did that. I was thinking pinch runner as soon as Flores got to first. DeGrom, Thor, fucking anybody (except Colon). There are times you try and make things happen but I would much rather have seen what happened with men on 2nd & 3rd, no out.And useless de Aza, I knew theyd give him the base. Why would he suddenly get run shy? Makes no sense.I wanted Grandy up there. Him or Ces, and that really was a wonderful curve to freeze Curtis. Can't be letting teams like the 2016 Braves beat us up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 For the record, I had no problem with De Aza trying to steal, I just didn't agree with Harold's assessment that the Braves "were giving him the base" or that there was "no downside" to trying. We were finding downsides all night. As for Granderson, I'd like to say that I had zero confidence in him because of his negative BA with runners on base, but I assume that's a fluke that will turn around at some point.Problem is, it's not like there's anyone else on the team in whom I had any CAHNFIDENCE.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 Worst game of the year. Absolutely embarrassed by the Braves.
