batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 This division sure doesn't read like it's supposed to be baseball's worst. Meanwhile, the Braves are on pace to break the '62 Mets record for ineptitude.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 While the NL standings are surprising nobody, the AL is upside down. The Astros, who were a lock to win the West, are in last place, 7 1/2 out. The Central was supposed to be a tossup between the Indians and Royals, currently in a virtual tie for second at a game over .500 and 5 1/2 games behind the White Sox. In the East, the Blue Jays (4th place) were a sure thing, and the first-place Orioles were supposed to be the worst team in the AL.The Orioles are starting to slump, and they probably won't be in first place for long.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Other oddities in this season so far:- the NL is out-playing the AL in inter-league play, holding a 23-16 winning edge so far. If this holds up it would be the first time the NL got the better of IL since 2003 and only the 5th time in the 20 seasons of IL- the NL is also out-hitting and out-scoring the AL for the first time in who knows how long (maybe the entire DH era).NL = .253/.324/.411 and 4.48 R/GAL = .248/.315/.398 and 4.04 R/G
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 The Mets move into 1st place in the NL East. What a great bonus for Mother's Day.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 To all the mothers out there, Happy First Place Day!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 The Cardinals are probably the best example of the up/down nature of the NL so far. They're currently sitting at 16-16 although with a [u:27mpxthw]plus 40[/u:27mpxthw] RS/RA which suggests they should be more like 20-12.Problem is, they've been winning a bunch of blowouts vs the weak sisters (six wins of seven or more runs) but are 2-10 when matched against the Cubs (1-2), Pirates (1-5) & Nats (0-3)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 It's always a dangerous point in the season when the leading team in the league is also the hottest team in the league. And that's what they Cubs are. And the ivy is green and Zobrist is starting to show his merits. But the Mets played their best last year running from in front, so maybe this is their time. They've got a lot of good extra-divisional teams coming up. They don't show down against the Cubs until the end of June. It'd be nice to have some distance between them and the Nats by then.Look at the Phillies, hanging in there as the second wild-card team.PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBSTRKL10WL10LHEATDivWDivLDIVPCTLGWLGLLGPCTBPDIV %1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York1911.633——W264896.600169.64039.6%2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington1912.6130.50.5L4551117.6111411.56058.0%3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadephia1814.5632.03.5W264896.6001514.5170.9%4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami1614.5333.06.5L273569.4001612.5711.5%5[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta723.23312.042.5L437-1411.267620.2310.0%PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBSTRKL10WL10LHEATLGWLGLLGPCTBPWC %DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CHC.png[/fimg] Chicago246.800+7.5+7.5W79116226.7869.9%DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York1911.633+0.5+0.5W2648169.64045.0%DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SF.png[/fimg] San Francisco1716.515+0.0+0.0L15541716.5155.0%1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington1912.613+1.5+1.5L4551311.21431.8%2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadelphia1814.563——W26481514.51733.3%3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PIT.png[/fimg] Pittsburgh1714.5480.50.5W15561611.5936.3%T4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami1614.5331.01.5L27351612.57116.7%T4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/LAD.png[/fimg] Los Angeles1716.5151.53.0W24661414.50010.6%T6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/STL.png[/fimg] St. Louis1616.5002.05.0L14631616.50011.3%T6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/COL.png[/fimg] Colorado1516.4842.57.5W16471516.48419.6%8[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ARI.png[/fimg] Arizona1518.4553.513.5W34671518.4554.6%9[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIL.png[/fimg] Milwaukee1318.4194.520.5W2557714.3331.8%10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SD.png[/fimg] San Diego1319.4065.024.5L26441319.4062.4%11[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CIN.png[/fimg] Cincinnati1319.4065.024.5L24621319.4061.6%12[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta723.23310.074.5L437-1620.2310.1%

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 Oh, chart foul. Very bad.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 23, 2016 Author Posted May 23, 2016 Yeah, sorry. I've fixed two errors.I was hoping our new home would make chart making and customizing easier. It has not.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 31, 2016 Author Posted May 31, 2016 One thing that really worked out last year is that, while the Mets hung in second, 1-3 games behind Washington six weeks in the mid-summer, they never panicked. Not only did they have players scheduled to return from injury (which is hard to count on), and trading chips (also no guarantee), but all summer long, oddsmakers looked to a meaningfully weak schedule over the last two months. And the Mets went and ate that up.I don't think they can necessarily count on that this year. Still, for what seems like a luke warm stretch, they have won seven of their last 10. Can't complain about that.Anyhow, Keith Hernandez said definitively last week that the West won't produce a Wild Card. Since then, San Francisco has had some serious helium elevating them ahead of the pack, but Los Angeles has entered the Wild Card picture after taking the series with the Mets. Everybody has pitching, but NL West is stacked with it this year.PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBSTRKL10WL10LHEATDivWDivLDIVPCTLGWLGLLGPCTBPDIV %1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington3121.596——W25571913.5942419.55852.2%2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York2921.5801.01.0W1738129.5712519.56845.5%T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadephia2625.5104.58.0L428-21411.5602223.4890.3%T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami2625.5104.58.0L15541117.3932322.5112.0%5[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta1535.30015.050.0W1556915.3751330.3020.0%PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBSTRKL10WL10LHEATLGWLGLLGPCTBPWC %DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CHC.png[/fimg] Chicago3514.714+6.5+6.5W673133314.7024.9%DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SF.png[/fimg] San Francisco3221.604+4.5+4.5L17363119.62021.5%DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington3121.596+1.0+1.0W25572419.55832.2%T1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PIT.png[/fimg] Pittsburgh2921.580——W17382721.56339.6%T1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York2921.580——W17382521.54335.3%T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/STL.png[/fimg] St. Louis2725.5193.03.0W15562425.49028.8%T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/LAD.png[/fimg] Los Angeles2725.5193.03.0L16452325.47920.1%T5[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami2625.5103.54.5L15542325.4799.4%T5[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadelphia2625.5103.54.5L428-22225.4682.0%7[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/COL.png[/fimg] Colorado2327.4606.017.0L33702227.4493.0%8[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIL.png[/fimg] Milwaukee2328.4516.520.0L15541728.3781.3%9[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ARI.png[/fimg] Arizona2330.4347.527.0L14632130.4121.6%10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SD.png[/fimg] San Diego2032.38510.047.0L33702032.3850.3%11[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CIN.png[/fimg] Cincinnati1734.33312.569.5W12831734.3330.0%12[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta1535.30014.084.5W15561335.2710.0%
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 6, 2016 Author Posted June 6, 2016 Last year the Mets were able to ride out the injury storm, staying in striking distance, and murdering 'em down the stretch. Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 A comparison of the Mets ups and downs over the courses of this season and last.Right now they have a better record than they did at this time last year, but there's a big surge ahead for the 2015 Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2016 Author Posted July 7, 2016 We head into this series facing a Nats team that, while not exactly a blacktop-melting menace, is effectively the hottest team in the league.Keith said earlier in the year that there certainly wasn't going to be Wild Card coming out of the West, but San Francisco has the best record in the league, and LA has gone a long way toward securing a Wild Card Spot. The playoff odds are already looking dramatic. Let's win this series. Loudly, if possible.PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBPythWPythLPythPCTDiff.=#FF0000]STRK=#FF0000]L10W=#FF0000]L10L=#FF0000]HEATDivWDivLDIVPCTLGWLGLLGPCT=#FF0000]BPDIV %1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington5135.593——5531.637-4=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]7=#FF0000]3=#FF0000]82713.6754232.568=#FF0000]80.4%2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York4638.5484.04.04638.5420=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]6=#FF0000]4=#FF0000]71819.4864034.541=#FF0000]17.0%3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami4441.5186.59.04243.4972=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]4=#FF0000]6=#FF0000]31624.4004034.541=#FF0000]2.6%4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadephia4046.46511.022.53353.3837=#FF0000]W4=#FF0000]8=#FF0000]2=#FF0000]121716.5153238.457=#FF0000]0.2%5[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta2857.32922.568.52956.341-1=#FF0000]L4=#FF0000]2=#FF0000]8=#FF0000]-21723.4252649.347=#FF0000]0.0%PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBPythWPythLPythPCTDiff.=#FF0000]STRK=#FF0000]L10W=#FF0000]L10L=#FF0000]HEATLGWLGLLGPCT=#FF0000]BPWC %DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SF.png[/fimg] San Francisco5433.621+6.0+6.05136.5833=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]5=#FF0000]5=#FF0000]64827.640=#FF0000]26.1%DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CHC.png[/fimg] Chicago5232.619+8.5+8.55826.695-6=#FF0000]L2=#FF0000]4=#FF0000]6=#FF0000]25032.610=#FF0000]2.9%DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington5135.593+4.0+4.05531.637-4=#FF0000]W2=#FF0000]7=#FF0000]3=#FF0000]94232.568=#FF0000]14.6%1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/LAD.png[/fimg] Los Angeles4839.552——5037.576-2=#FF0000]L2=#FF0000]7=#FF0000]3=#FF0000]54332.573=#FF0000]47.3%2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York4638.548——4638.5420=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]6=#FF0000]4=#FF0000]74034.541=#FF0000]44.5%T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami4441.5182.52.54243.4902=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]4=#FF0000]6=#FF0000]34034.541=#FF0000]16.1%T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PIT.png[/fimg] Pittsburgh4441.5182.52.54342.5031=#FF0000]L7=#FF0000]8=#FF0000]2=#FF0000]13733.529=#FF0000]16.6%5[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/STL.png[/fimg] St. Louis4341.5123.04.05034.594-7=#FF0000]W3=#FF0000]4=#FF0000]6=#FF0000]73831.551=#FF0000]30.7%6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadelphia4046.4657.020.03353.3847=#FF0000]W4=#FF0000]8=#FF0000]2=#FF0000]123238.457=#FF0000]0.2%7[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/COL.png[/fimg] Colorado3846.4528.025.04044.478-2=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]3=#FF0000]7=#FF0000]23341.446=#FF0000]0.6%8[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIL.png[/fimg] Milwaukee3747.4409.031.03549.4112=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]3=#FF0000]7=#FF0000]22842.400=#FF0000]0.1%9[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ARI.png[/fimg] Arizona3849.4379.534.53948.448-1=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]2=#FF0000]8=#FF0000]13342.440=#FF0000]0.3%10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SD.png[/fimg] San Diego3748.4359.534.53847.442-1=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]5=#FF0000]5=#FF0000]63341.446=#FF0000]0.1%11[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CIN.png[/fimg] Cincinnati3254.37215.084.02957.3403=#FF0000]W2=#FF0000]3=#FF0000]7=#FF0000]52843.394=#FF0000]0.0%12[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta2857.32918.5119.02956.341-1=#FF0000]L4=#FF0000]2=#FF0000]8=#FF0000]-22649.347=#FF0000]0.0%
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 No word yet from Sweden on the NHOP for this year.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 I've been trying to get that one for hours.I'm up late tonight with a sick and restless doggie. LA has lost, putting the Mets in position for the top wild card slot.Conforto went 3-4 with a walk and his second homer since his demotion, a three-run jobbie. He's hitting .333 as a 51.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 26, 2016 Author Posted July 26, 2016 A brief return to the standings as the Mets return to Wild Card "leader" status, if only by percentage points. This gives us a good picture of who will be buying and who will be selling over the next four weeks. Everybody below Pittsburgh is likely playing for the future.Mets are surprisingly low percentage bet as a division contender. But numbers don't lie. Also notable is that the Giants are expected to fall and these Cards we face twice today are a Wild Card favorite. We have a good chance re-write that future.PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBPythWPythLPythPCTDiff.=#FF0000]STRK=#FF0000]Last10=#FF0000]HEATDivWDivLDIVPCTLGWLGLLGPCT=#FF0000]BPDIV %1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington5841.586——6336.632-5=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]5-5=#FF0000]43014.6824938.563=#FF0000]85.2%2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York5245.5365.05.05146.5251=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]5-5=#FF0000]62324.4894641.529=#FF0000]10.7%3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami5346.5355.05.05049.5013=#FF0000]L2=#FF0000]5-5=#FF0000]32028.4174939.557=#FF0000]3.9%4[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadephia4655.45513.029.03962.3877=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]4-6=#FF0000]52021.4883847.447=#FF0000]0.0%5[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta3366.33325.077.03366.3340=#FF0000]L5=#FF0000]2-8=#FF0000]-31723.4252957.337=#FF0000]0.0%PlaceTeamWLPCTGBNGBPythWPythLPythPCTDiff.=#FF0000]STRK=#FF0000]Last10=#FF0000]HEATLGWLGLLGPCT=#FF0000]BPWC %DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CHC.png[/fimg] Chicago5841.586+5.5+5.56633.671-8=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]5-5=#FF0000]65439.581=#FF0000]4.8%DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SF.png[/fimg] San Francisco5939.602+4.0+4.05543.5634=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]6-4=#FF0000]75229.642=#FF0000]41.8%DIV[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/WAS.png[/fimg] Washington5841.586+5.0+5.06336.632-5=#FF0000]L2=#FF0000]2-8=#FF0000]04938.563=#FF0000]10.6%1[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/LAD.png[/fimg] Los Angeles5644.560+2.5+2.55842.579-2=#FF0000]L2=#FF0000]6-4=#FF0000]45137.580=#FF0000]28.8%2[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/NYM.png[/fimg] New York5245.536——5146.5251=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]5-5=#FF0000]64641.529=#FF0000]40.2%T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIA.png[/fimg] Miami5346.5350.00.05049.5013=#FF0000]L2=#FF0000]5-5=#FF0000]34939.557=#FF0000]21.3%T3[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/STL.png[/fimg] St. Louis5246.5310.51.05939.603-7=#FF0000]L2=#FF0000]6-4=#FF0000]44538.542=#FF0000]38.7%5[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PIT.png[/fimg] Pittsburgh5147.5201.54.04949.4972=#FF0000]W2=#FF0000]5-5=#FF0000]74637.554=#FF0000]13.0%6[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/COL.png[/fimg] Colorado4752.4756.022.04950.494-2=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]6-4=#FF0000]54144.482=#FF0000]0.6%7[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/PHI.png[/fimg] Philadelphia4655.4558.032.03962.3877=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]4-6=#FF0000]53847.447=#FF0000]0.0%8[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/MIL.png[/fimg] Milwaukee4255.43310.044.04156.4261=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]4-6=#FF0000]53350.398=#FF0000]0.1%9[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/SD.png[/fimg] San Diego4357.43010.547.54555.445-2=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]4-6=#FF0000]33949.443=#FF0000]0.3%10[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ARI.png[/fimg] Arizona4158.41412.059.54158.4160=#FF0000]L1=#FF0000]3-7=#FF0000]23649.424=#FF0000]0.1%11[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/CIN.png[/fimg] Cincinnati3960.39414.077.54059.408-1=#FF0000]W1=#FF0000]7-3=#FF0000]83549.417=#FF0000]0.0%12[fimg=25]http://www.kcmets.com/CPF/ATL.png[/fimg] Atlanta3366.33320.0137.52574.2578=#FF0000]L5=#FF0000]2-8=#FF0000]-32957.337=#FF0000]0.0%
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Two of the three divisions seem to be pretty secure (but you NEVER know), while five teams scramble for two Wild Card spots. Colorado refuses to quit, and even team-in-revolt Cincinnati is showing some heart. Anybody who fears staying ahead of Philadelphia, Pythagoras doesn't like them. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Standings update after only two days? Sounds like a lot of work, but the key number below is that the Mets their Wild Card likelihood by 7.8 points over that period, seemingly all of which has been taken off of Pittsburgh's plate. Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 The problem is, there's the teams that are division leaders, the teams we have to pass... and then, a whole lot of terrible teams. And weirdo Colorado. There aren't a lot of mediocre, more-than-a-puncher's-chance-to-win squads to help us with the dirty work, here. Basically, we root for the division leaders and Rockies (and AL teams) to kick wild-card-contender patoot, and hope for the occasional manna shower from the Pod or Bravo contingent.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Those W-L figures in your standings ain't accurate today, are they?Goes without saying, one game at a time, never rely on schedule strength, etc etc, but this upcoming 4-gamer with Miami is pretty huge.33 left beginning today:1 with Philly at home4 with Miami at home3 w/ Washington at home3 at Cincy--offday--3 at ATL3 at WSH--offday--3 with MIN at home3 w/ ATL at home4 with PHL at home3 at MIA--offday--3 at PHLCan we pull a Rush and go 21-12?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 30, 2016 Author Posted August 30, 2016 Crane Pool Standings, Updated More Clearly(because our table-making tools at this place are for shit)NL EASTNL WILD CARDThose changes in playoff odds represent a two-day swing, rather than merely last night, so it isn't particularly indicative, but it will be moreso going forward as I get the hang of this. You wanted the Mets to be the hottest team in the league? Well, they are, if only barely.Note that I rank the Mets nominally ahead in the division, based on their superior division record, but the Marlins get the razor thin edge in the Wild Card race, based on their stronger league record. You've got to mentally break those ties somehow.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
