TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2015 Posted December 22, 2015 Love. A veteran to throw among the youngsters. He doesn't miss starts and doesn't give up walks. He does have off nights, but over the long haul will be average...which is what is needed from a 5th starter.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 Love.. I've gone on about him enough and glad he's back.Stay healthy, Tio!!

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 This is the toughest call. And one that is the most dependent on other moves.I went with dislike, because I thought the Mets had much more pressing needs. Take Colon money, Cabrera money and De Aza money and suddenly you have enough for an impact player.Plus Bart was not really that good looking at the numbers. So you figure Montero, or Verret, or Gsellman might be able to get you similar production. But I think they will likely need at least 2 or 3 additional starter, in addition to the big 4. So I get the need for Colon.Good mentor for the kids. Lots of fun to watch. And had they made the moves they should have made, I would have welcomed Bart back. But they didn't. So slight dislike.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 My heart loves this deal as I just really enjoy watching Bartolo pitch. I like his willingness to do whatever he can to help the team whether that is as a 5th starter, a spot starter, or a member of the bullpen. My brain feels that his price tag may have been a too much for a 40+ year old pitcher that that isn't exactly in peak physical condition. Ultimately, I like the deal.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 I like it, but only because I'm too afraid to love.

RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 He fits in well, can eat up innings, and is fun to watch. What's not to like?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 meh. Mostly a below average innings eater who could suddenly be his age at any moment. Fun to have around, intangibles and all that, but I'd have rather a guy like Fister or something for a little more money/commitment. It's not like accidentally having too many pitchers is ever a real problem.
