Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Terry has apparently already said that it will be Harvey.I agree with that choice. Hopefully Syndergaard will be able to go Game 2. I prefer him to Matz.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Let's go Harvey, Syndegaard, deGrom and re-evaluate from there.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Harvey 1/5Syndergaard 2/6deGrom 3/7Matz 4Seems fine to me!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 15, 2015 Author Posted October 15, 2015 The Mets' pitching depth will hopefully be a bigger advantage in a longer series.Less of a chance for the Braves Syndrome to kick in.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 The answer to the question posed in the title of the thread is, the Mets, of course.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I want the Harvey who will be able to pitch two games if we need him to.

Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 I want Harvey to step up here for this series. 2 wins, 17 innings, 1 run, 25 k, 0 BB

Boras generally likes to go free agency, but I wonder if he would use something like that to try to convince the Mets they should give him the FA contract after this season, and try to use the innings limit as leverage. i.e. "You risked him well past what you should've, now reward him or I file a grievance"
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I really like Harvey for game 1 and not to get ahead of myself but I loooove deGrom lined up for game 7.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Syndergaard may not start game 2 because he warmed up a million times in game 5 in LA . It'll depend on how he feels today. Had to be done because deGrom was constantly on the ropes and they had to get here first, but Matz in game 2 would be disappointing.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I'm hoping it's Syndergaard in Game 2. I'd rather see him pitch at Citi than at Wrigley.Although I guess I feel the same way about Matz.

Depending on how he felt today, Collins was going to decide. Sounded to me like Matz will get the Game 2 call though.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 Maybe that's the right move, but I'd rather not a consequential decision be made based on hyperbole.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Apparently Syndegaard threw about 5 innings worth in the pen in L.A., so Terry equated it to a start. If he's (Syndegaard) feeling similar soreness that he would after a start, then he will not start game 2.These are quotes from Terry.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 There was never any question that Harvey would start tonight: their top(ish) pitcher on regular rest. It's also reasonable to wait on Syndergaard to see how he feels. Matz is probably the best option if he's not: Niese would be too much of a risk, and Colon should stay in the bullpen for now (He's going to be more effective if he comes in with his soft fastballs after the batters have been used to seeing 95+.)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 17, 2015 Author Posted October 17, 2015 I'll try and come up with more meaningful questions.

Guest cooby Guests Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 The answer to the question posed in the title of the thread is, the Mets, of course.Oooh good answer!I chose Matz because I figured if he got lit up (God forbid) it's just game one. I have a different mind set from those who choose the Ace for game one
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Someone posted this somewhere already, Syndegaard is starting game 2
dinosaur jesus Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 I like Harvey for game one. I've just got a good feeling about him.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I didn't get this thread. Was there a chance that Harvey wasn't gonna start game #1?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2015 Author Posted October 18, 2015 It was published just as the last out was made in the previous series, and while Harvey was about to be announced as the expected starter, I thought others might have opinions on who they'd like to see.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 I would've liked for the mid 60's version of Sandy Koufax to start for the Mets. But between Harvey, Matz and Niese, I would've picked Harvey had I bothered.
