metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Excellent at bat from Cespedes, took some close ones and then knocks a 2 run double of the wall , not missing a HR by much.....- 5 - 0
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 You're not gonna catch the Murph sitting back on a tapper twice, Dee.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I wonder what our 'bunt percentage' is?No such statistic exists of course, but more than just being able to see how many times we bunted into outs or K'd trying to bunt, I'd like to see a tally of how many individual pitches where a sac bunt was attempted and then how many of those were successful at moving a runner up. For example, in this inning, Bartolo took 3 shots at a Sac Bunt and failed at all of them so that would be an 0-fer-3. Then you'd want to compare it to league averages and such. Now you'd essentially need pitch by pitch analysis to keep track of it all so I don't expect a realistic answer here, but geez, it would have be in the single digits on this club.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Three doubles with a chance for more for Cespedes.Speaking of doubles, double digits!!
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I can quite easily get used to games like this.Cespedes looked a little perturbed in the dugout after his 3rd double. He looked like he was wondering what he had to do to hit the ball out there..

dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I'm trying to fight the giddiness I've been feeling, and losing the battle. I've forgotten what it's like to be happy while watching the Mets...
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Bart smokes a hit , sounds like a home game

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Extra bonus tonight is the benefit of taxing their bullpen in game one of a series.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 And speaking of bullpens, after two nights of saving his best relievers for save/hold spots that never appeared, Matt Williams tonight uses both Storen & Papelbon in late inning mop-up work.Papelbon serves up a HR to make it 6-0 Arizona.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 d'Arnaud is taking a beating tonight.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 SOLE POSSESSION of first place might be only a few innings away!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Granderson making that catch makes it official. Everything is going our way.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 It should be backup time. Let's see if we can get Campbell going against some back-end pitching.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Bullpen meltdown in progress for Arizona. 4 runs in and the Nationals have the tying run up in the 9th.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Nats with another two....6-4...damn
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Downside of tonight: Lucas found his strikeout stroke again.
