According to the little box on the left, I joined this fine Forum 10 years ago today. That's a lot of Schaefer points and such under the bridge. Good to know you all this past decade. Looking forward to another postseason with you real soon (or eventually).

Happy Craneiversary!
I can't recall, how long have we been here? I think I started posting
on the mofo in '97 or '98?
Let's reminisce! A good starting point question... what year was the
bleacher's meet up? Anyone still have a picture of the half-eaten hot
dog? Show us the plan!!!

Good stuff!

This board has made it so much easier to be a lonely and far-flung Mets fan. Good people.

I'm pretty sure I joined the MOFO in 1999.

The bleachers game was 2001.

I hit the MOFO in '98 or '99.

I cannot begin to explain what a wonderful place that was (and this is) for a guy who loves the Mets from afar.

Ah, you 20th century MOFOs. Like the House of Lords, a Pooler can reach 10 years here and still be one of the new kids on the block.

Wow. My 10 year anni is coming up. Zvon since day one, as I am all over the world wide web. The Mets would be unbearable w/o u guyz and I thank you for the company.

I requested my very own personalized player name in place of the generic Seaver about 5 years ago. I can't wait til the paperwork is approved and that change goes thru. :)

I ain't goin' anywhere until I'm Tommie Agee.

The unofficial/official birthday of the CPF was Nov 1st, 2001
It technically existed for a few months prior to that but more as a mental respite from the increasingly strident MoFo site rather than as a place to discuss NYM baseball. But in the madness following the 9/11 attacks and some of the ugliness that ensued, and then during that year's delayed World Series and the ultimate dethroning of the Yanx in that series, those taking respites here realized that the folks you wanted to discuss these topics with were the other ones seeking solace here too.

i found the mofo way back in teh wake of the robin ventura signing, mistakenly called it a trade, got lambasted, never used that name again (i'm not even sure what the hell it was) and went into hiding for about two years of good solid lurking. i'm not sure when i resurfaced, exactly, or what precipitated it. but im fairly certain it was in the summer or fall of 2000.

I got the idea you existed solely to slay the dragon that was Piazza4Prez. That guy was a gold medal winner in un-self-awareness, and you stepped up to the podium and placed that ribbon around his neck.

i like big trucks and i cannot lie. oh, how i wish i could find the right settings on the wayback machine to retrieve that gem.

i do vaguely recall, very early, stepping in it on a discussion of whether or not the jews killed jesus, though i cannot remember what in the heck might've triggered the discussion which i'd foolishly dove headlong into. some cookiemom person slapped me down for my ignorance, or at least oversimplification of historical context, and i worried that i'd undone myself yet again. eh, i guess not...

I think that bleacher game was the same day as a staged reading of my play, which was why i couldn't join you. The reading was August 9, 2001.
Also, some of you joined me some months earlier for my 40th birthday at a Brooklyn Cyclones game (Shinjo played; he was rehabbing an injury).

Mofo was my first daily internet routine. Probably the same for most of you, at a time when most people didn't have such wastes of time yet.

I loved that place a lot, but it did go to shit around the time FK described. Then all of you guys were gone, and reading the boards felt like listening to a thousand WFAN callers all screaming stupid bullshit at the same time. When I got to the CPF, it was this tranquil, little island with blue and orange hammocks, and the Mofo was dead for me.

Anyway, thank you, you elitist pricks for sneaking off and starting this place up.
