Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 The problem with going to Affeldt this early is that you lose your main LHR for later in the game ... but I think the part of the LHR for later on tonight will be played by Madison Bumgarner.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 And suddenly it's Guthrie with six straight retired and through 3 innings in under 40 pitches. Not that the pitch count is a big deal tonight but, aside from that whole bases-loaded/no-outs deal, he's being very efficient otherwise.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I will never understand why guys dive into first base.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 So they can kill rallies and potentially injure themselves.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 All sorts of reasons. May not add up to the fastest way, but a lot things are going on in the mind of the athlete in motion.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Good Lord, Joe Buck. Shut the fuck up. Why say ten words when you could say 50, repeated brainlessly, for 3.5 hours?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Jeter's last stand tonight. His 2-2 with a run scored in the All-Star game helped the AL to a 5-3 victory and KC to home field advantage.I got a little money that's saying Bumgarner is an MVP.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 You send him out for the ninth, right?I suspect Romo is warming. I mean, this game is in serious danger of ending before midnight.

Bumgarner is playing a game with which I am not familiar.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 What can you say about Bumgarner ?, fucking awesome .

But this deal with the official scorer deciding that Bumgarner gets the win for tonight's game (even though Affeldt was the pitcher when SF took the lead) has the whiff of being contrived.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I'll just mumble something about "National League Superiority" to the YLDBs in my office and move on - just a little sad.Later
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 The Royals' third-base coach will probably be kicking himself all winter for not sending Gordon there.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Great game. I was STUNNED when Gordons single was bumbled into a triple. STUNNED I TELLSYA! Gotta tip my hat to Bum. If I couldn't see the Royals win, at least I saw a great performance of GIANT proportions. Great series.Fman99 wrote:Good Lord, Joe Buck. Shut the fuck up. Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Great series. Lots of mood swings. Bumgarner pretty much won it singlehandedly for the G-Men.Never seen someone come on in relief and pitch the last five innings protecting a one-run lead. That's some serious baseballin'.
