Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 It was moderately popular last year, so we'll try it again this year. IPP stands for Individual Player Predictions. These will be threads where we share our expectations of how a player will perform in the current year. Feel free to make your predictions as specific or as vague as you like. (You can find a listing of the 2013 IPPs here.)I wish I could be optimistic about Ike Davis. I think he'll win the job in spring training, but will get off to another horrible start in April. By May 1 he'll be a minor leaguer or a bench player, and by June 1 he'll be a memory.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I could still see 30 homers and a .260/.340/.520 line from him if he keeps his head on, but I won't guarantee that happens (or would happen here if it does). I get the sense that the Mets want to give first base to Duda, and Davis has been around long enough where he can (and most likely will) refuse a demotion.
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I like that they're planning to get him a ton of ABs in the spring so he's further along into the early-season slump by Opening Day. I think he's better -- but still prone to injuries.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Starts out hot. Gets nagging wrist or leg injury. Misses some time, then doesn't come back right.Something like 280 PA, 18 R/8 HR/32 RBI, .247/.360/.438.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 too volatile to predict with any confidence..248/.345/.449 28 HR, 170 Ks, 90 BB, 1 3B, 4 SB over 515 PA Think Satin gets a fair amount of the time against lefties but that he mostly holds down the job all year. He'll have a dead period of a couple of weeks in both May and August but will also have a 8 HR/.450 OBP month.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Mets play a ST game at Houston (Kissimmee) on March 26. Ike goes on the bus, doesn't come back. Mets get two minor leaguers in return.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 .255 17-60 in half a season platooning. In Pittsburgh.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Waiting for a "memories of Ike" thread...
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 .195 - 4 HR - 20 RBI - sent down and gone gone gone
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 .210 5-20, gets traded by June. Would be happy to be incorrect, but his trajectory is just wrong.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 He's going to suck for a month then be released.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I still like Ike..267 / 33 HR / 88 RBI
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Fans will be clamoring that Ike is on the all-star team.

Guest Mixtapewormhole Guests Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Good enough to avoid benching/demotion, not good enough to avoid being immensely frustrating. Expecting a line similar to his rookie year. 18 homers, .350 on-base. Probably gets hurt.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Anybody project Ike in the postseason? 'Cause that's where he'll be.We got the better season at first base. He got the better 2014 outcome. Win-winnish.
