Sure could've used Young today, or even den Dekker.

Tough deal of the cards for Nieuwenhuis. I like to think either he or dD could give us more off the bench than Young, though, and this injury sure clears up any ambiguity of the four-man outfield, just as everybody should have known some injury or another would.

It wouldn't be a complete "little d" day unless Jeter was playing shortstop.

Thor to the DL to get his elbow examined.

This is not good.

Can we line deGrom's next start up for June 6th? It's right around the corner.

What do you mean? We're, like, two TJ surgeries away from the free one, right? #AllAboutValue

NYT with an article saying his injury typically leads to Tommy John.....

Syndergaard tweets that he's synderfine.

He could also be Synderfull of shit. Players are the last people to trust about stuff like this.
I'll believe it when a doctor says he's fine. And even then, i'd want a 2nd opinion.

I'm also Synderskeptical.

I guess I'm Synderfatalistic too. It seems like Tommy John surgery is becoming a rite of passage for pitchers. Maybe it's better for Noah to have it now (if it's actually necessary, of course) rather than after his big league career has started.

Of course he could be wrong. I certainly don't say otherwise.

And i'm not saying you did, or even that you implied otherwise, so let's please not go there.

As for Synderfella, he can not only be wrong, he could be lying. Players apparently lie about their physical condition all the time so as not lose playing time, and to avoid the DL, and to avoid any perception of them as fragile by their team and teammates (or in this case, perhaps the general public). So self-immolation (for those considering it) is still very much on the table until we hear further.

Well, you hate to do that sort of thing pre-maturely, I think, is my point.

Early reports indicated his elbow, but latter reports, including his own, seem to point to the forearm, I believe.

Thor is fine.

#Mets apparently announce Noah Syndergaard's MRI is clean.

The "But I think they're lying bastards" undertones of the apparently thrown in there unnecessarily is the an example of the difference between being a reporter and a negative troll.

If I were a player, particularly one who is apparently so close to the big leagues, i'd be lying the shit out of any and all injuries too, because all it takes is a call-up and then WHAM "my X really hurts, I'm gonna go see Dr. Andrews", because then the entire year on the DL for Tommy John surgery counts towards your major league service time because they cant send you down while on the DL or send you down and then DL you if you claim the injury occured in the majors

Juan officially (as opposed to ceremonially) to DL. den Dekker back from the airport.

Recovery - Thor was back in the Vegas lineup for the first time since May 21st.

Injury - FuckShit!

Gee - threw for the first time off flat ground yesterday. Still 2-3 weeks at best from returning

EYJ - "felt tightness" in his hammy during a test run. Will back off for a few days and will require time beyond the original DL stint

Syndergaard - will be out "5 to 7 days" with a sprained left (non-throwing) shoulder

Nimmo leaves today's game after getting hit in the wrist... and, as with Syndergaard's shoulder, the Rangers dressing room and (so far) Krazy-Glued Brazilian soccerin' stadiums, it is fracture-free.

Eric Young is on rehab assignment, going 2-5 in his first game with St. Lucie. He is eligible for activation and should be back shortly.

Lagares, if ready, is eligible to activated in time for Tuesday in St. Louis.

More grass for the mower, the way things are going.
