metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 last season, there were 50 major leaguers who'd played 14 years or more (meaning they'd debuted at least as early as 2000), per bbref.mind you, this does not include any players who missed a full complete season (or two) along the way, either due to injury or spending a full year in the minors, as this only counts years appearing in the majors. like randy choate. he's only got 13 years, having debuted in 2000, but missed all of 2008.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 I'm not looking necessarily for continuous service, just for any active dudes who played in the bigs before Bush was first inaugurated. I'm treating 2000 as a 20th Century year.Guys like Contreras and Suzuki --- who played in the top league in another country and were restricted from advancing to MLB --- probably deserve a consolation prize.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Jesse Orosco and Jamie Moyer are still playing somewhere right?Right?
