Inspired by this, which is old and I'd seen it before, but it came across my feed this morning:

I'm rewatching the eighth inning on, since everyone else went to bed. John McNamara currently going BANANAS over the missed force play in the bottom of the ninth.

That was just as awesome as it ever is. I could watch that over and over. So many neat little details that you pick up with repeated viewings. The guy in the Death mask down on field level, for example.

And Vin Scully, just letting the celebration happen without speaking a word. Beautiful.

Agreed#17.

My favorite part is the screen showing Marty Barret all happy and ready to take his check.

oe:I guess he still got it.

After the tying run scores, another voice in the booth says "Oh, boy." on a foul liner by Mookie, and you realized that Scully had a partner all that time, who just sat there and let Vin completely over. I imagine there are other interjections that were edited out, but still.

I'm still able to remember one or two things, and that's one of them.

In the past I've made fun of Joe Garagiola for his lack of commentary, but you know, I've never thought about it from his perspective before. Poor Joe probably realized that he's working with a legend, a legend who is used to working alone, and just decided to stay out of the way as much as possible.

"Ok CF, so for this production of Hamlet, we've decided to split the role between you and Ian MacKellan. I know, I know, Ian's usually pretty good on his own, but we're gonna try it this way for now. You guys discuss and figure out how you want to divide up the lines. Good luck!"
