Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 "Every pitcher in baseball who faces Matt HarveyThey all become Koufax or Gomez or Spahn"I'm pitching eight innings, and strike out a dozenI thought I found vict'ry, than whoops! she was gone..."
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 On the upside, Harvey has extra time to make his magazine shoot tonight in Miami.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Shit. Now Koehler's in line for the W, which means I'm conflicted again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Oh, this is so on you. SO on you.

Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) i need SOMETHING to root for this year, and as a SBU alum, its not like we've got a bunch of pro athlete alums to cheer for. It's this guy and Joe Nathan, and that's pretty much it for the history of the school. Edited August 1, 2013 by Guest
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Run suppport, gee that never occurred to me ..
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I think we'll see Travis Jankowski and Nick Tropeano at some point in the next couple of years too. And the guy we just had sign a three-year deal with the Eagles.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Inspiring 9th inning comeback begins with a Squinty single, now Muffy batting for The Germenator.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 GAet that tying run to the plate, Eric Young.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 That didn't quite do it.But way to hustle anyhow.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Young tries to hit into game-ending DP but saved by his speed.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) So the Mets have not been shutout for quite a while and this suckass Miami team is gonna pull it off. Lets see if Turner agrees. Edited August 1, 2013 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Give life, Turner, not death.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Okay, this one's on me....AND ON TOM FUCKING KOEHLER, BABY."Big right-hander from the northeast pitching six shutout innings in Miami today for the W? Yep, that's me."
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 His first win at home this season. Gets it, of course, vs. the Muts.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Eric Young is not long term OF answer... Juan Lagares is..I was feeling really good about this team and then come Atlanta, Washington and then the fish..I believe I will be rooting for players to make numbers from here on...Why is Ike still on this team? Is his head the far up Collin's ass?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Can you please speak to the relative short- and long-terminess of Young and Lagares? How long do you believe Young will be productive and why? How long Lagares and why?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 i need SOMETHING to root for this year, and as a SBU alum, its not like we've got a bunch of pro athlete alums to cheer for. It's this guy and Joe Nathan, and that's pretty much it for the history of the school. Not only that, but Koehler is from New Rochelle, too... he went to my daughter's HS. And he's a native NYer. And he was born in the magical year of 1986.How can i not root for this guy? Can't i get like a special dispensation under these circumstances?I throw myself on the mercy of the court.

How long do you believe Young will be productive and why? How long Lagares and why?Yeah, i'm not sure i get that either. It's not like Young is old. He's 28, coming into the prime of his career, and we don't know his ceiling since he's never been given a full-time major league job, despite showing flashes in Colorado and here. Lagares is younger (24) with obvious physical tools, but his minor league production has not been extraordinary (too many Ks, not enough BBs or HRs or SBs), nor was his major league production impressive either, until about 2+ weeks ago. Sure, he has the upside of any 24-year old physically talented athlete, and i hope his current success continues, but i don't know at all that a guy who has had almost no experience above AA ball is going to have a superior career to an experienced 28-year old with some limited major-league success already to his credit.
