A 4-6-3 is imminent.

Let Marcum hit?

What's the alternative?

Recker.

And then who pitches the bottom?

Gee, I imagine, if that's the direction they decide on.

(Now we're gonna need Gee anyhow.)

I meant a 4-3 is imminent. Good grief.

They really should have intentionally walked Dobbs, Ruggiano, and Brantley there. Maybe Green too.

MLB.TV still down :(.
Following on CBSsportsline. Reading this game is as painful as watching it.

Missed this game last night, and I'm glad I did. However...

Meanwhile, we can't touch their just-called-up reliever through three straight innings.

...because that just-called-up reliever bleeds Seawolves red. Nice job, TK.

Watched the game.

Couldn't wind down afterwards.

Clock hit 2:40 before I started winking out.

Have been thus far useless to my organization since 9:00.

That's reason enough to keep Cowgill out of center. That was the sort of depth perception misread off the bat that folks unfamiliar with centerfield make. If you think about it, the idea that a misread and twisted route doesn't count as an error in the outfield is silly. A ball has to go off or through an infielder for him to be credited with an error, but since an outfielder is further away with more ground to cover, the scale of "should have had it" should be significantly larger.

So congratulations to Juan Lagares. I elevate thee.

I told you guys about this yesterday! I didn't think Cowguts was especially quick to the ball at the critical moments in Sunday's giveaway either.

Just saw the highlights of the extra innings, Baxter should have got Dobbs at the plate for the tying run? Perhaps I should say a better arm gets not fleet of foot Dobbs at the plate?

Yeah, Baxter can only be the best at what he is, and the throw it would have taken just isn't in his arsenal.

The sad part is that it was a pretty impressive defensive game for the team. Even Duda was crackerjack.

Even on a miscue, like when Turner threw to second on a bunt when neither Tejada nor Murphy were in position to take the force, Tejada kept his head and made the tag. I guess I also take issue with Juan F. Pierre running at will like he's Ron LeFlore or something.

Can Baxter not be decent defensively? Does he have no arm? These aren't things I'm sure of. I am sure he fielded that fly ball poorly to make a throw. It wasn't that he didn't have the arm to do it, it's that he wasn't positioned to put his body behind it.

There were a couple of other iffy postioning/awareness things later on, and I know Keith was getting exasperated with the defense on both sides. Marlins SS make a pretty pathetic attempt to get Murphy's slow roller through the left side.

He doesn't have no arm, but experience tells me that Baxter at his best reaches about average with his arm. Better than Duda, but I can't give it much more props than that. Not as good as Byrd, from what I've seen, but he may have fewer moving parts.

I have no qualms with his glove.

Interesting take Ceetar, no excuse for poor fundies if that was the case.

It definitely wasn't. he caught it flat footed and took a step back to get to that spot, but he had take to take a couple more back and get ready to go forward, even just a step as he caught it might have been enough to get the ball to the plate on a hop at worst, hell, the 'edging back to throw' motion before the catch might have had Dobbs decide not to go.
