Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Matt Harvey, first pitcher in MLB to win four games. Also, gave up four hits tonight, which was the MOST he's given up in any start so far in 2013.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Anyone watching the post-game? I don't think I've ever seen more makeup on one person than there is on Bobby V right now.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Kinda crazy, but I got the notion that Citi Field was (finally) truly established tonight as the Mets' home, in a way that not even the no-hitter did.

I don't know if I buy that necessarily, but it could be the idea that the buzz was what drew people to the park, not something that happened to those that happened to be there.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 A little of both is necessary, though. A buzz that brings a promise of an event and the team absolutely delivering on that promise.I dunno, Friday night, back from a road trip, division rival, aces matching up, division rival is the defending champ, Davey Johnson in the opposing dugout, a legend like Gooden in the house, and the team utterly dominates, with just enough drama in the seventh to make it exciting, before absolutely pulling away. All the key bats contribute. The slumbering slugger wakes up. A goofy but harmless thing like Marlon Byrd heading to first on ball three. Good news coming in from outside the park. You can't deliver on the buzz any better.Mets = America

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Great game all around wannit? Couple-too-tree defensive plays, some clutch pitching and hitting, Ike and Doodoo destroying the ball, Harvey going all Seaver on their asses. Nats don't look very good! Part of it are those awful fat numerals on their jerseys. Jeez, guys, take a lesson form your forebears.Doodoo, thanks in part to following Ike and Buck (homers or nothing) hasn't homered with anyone on base yet.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Watching on DVR, just getting through Harvey's tiptoe through the 7th... pretty rockin' crowd for a stadium that was half-empty. Almost Shea-like.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted April 19, 2013 Posted April 19, 2013 Lucas Duda, your NL leader in OPS.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Pretty sure Hefner will kill that buzz today.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Lucas Duda WILL NOT PERMIT IT TO DIE!!
