Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Did the team have a hostile divorce with Al Jackson?Seven years later and we could have had a shot of Chuck Taylor wearing Chuck Taylors. Great stuff.

Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 A designer from Boston named M. Willis has been running a series on his blog called "Soccer Out of Context" where he's redesigning Major League Baseball uniforms with soccer aesthetics. It's been a fun series as far as reading his design choices. Today he published the last entry which covers the teams of the NL East, which includes some nice stories about Shea Stadium.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 If it's going to be a true soccer 'kit' for the Mets wouldn't it say AMWAY on it somewhere?
Guest Mets Willets Point Guests Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I like how the World Series titles are represented by two little apples.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Yes, he did a nice job with this series. Crazy how people who really care about stuff like uniforms have so little to do with them.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 The lettering on the back needs more orange, I'd say. It looks too much like those low-rent replica jerseys that don't get the lettering right.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Tommy John, it turns out, places 3rd among MLB pitchers with wins after having Tommy John surgery.John tacked on 164 post-surgery wins to go with his 124 pre-surgery victories. David Wells (239) and Kenny Rogers (219) are the ones with more post-operation victories.Jason Isringhausen leads all pitchers with 300 post-TJS saves (IOW - all of his). As a pre-surgery starter Jason had 17 big league wins prior and then 34 afterward. Eric Gagne (187) and Brian Wilson (171) are the closest to him in the post-operation saves race although aren't really that close.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 John, Wells, and Rogers --- all lefties.
