Ralph Terry already guessed and rejected...but it might need to be checked again.

This quiz is so tough, why it even stumped me, the quizmaster.

Well, if it isn't Octavio Dotel, its got to be his (evil ?) twin, Alejandro Pena.

Randy Jones?

I think you meant:

Jones rounds out the list of close but no cigar career WHIP Mets. But this quiz is over. Last night, with three remaining top 15 WHIPsters to go (Scott, Candelaria and Pena) when MFS62 logged on, MFS62 nailed all three without erring. I didn't give him credit for Scott because Chad86 snuck in and beat him to Scott by a few minutes, but still, some impressive guesswork by MFS62. Alejandro Pena. Who would've known?

Dotel would make the list (1.229 career WHIP) but he's 53.2 innings short of the 1000 minimum.

The chronically unloved Armando Benitez's career 1.217 WHIP would place him in 12th place on this list but for his lack of enough IP's, too.

I recall acknowledging Terry's name on the master bb-ref list when I was creating this quiz. But I had a momentary lapse though, forgetting that the before my time Terry was once a Met. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go and be young.

Pedro's lifetime WHIP is 5th best all time, and the best among starters since WWI. The last time a starting pitcher that would finish with a career WHIP better than Pedro's would take the mound was almost 100 years ago (Ed Walsh, 1917). There is one reliever (not retired) with a better career WHIP than Pedro's.

and since he's scrawny and what not, no one will suspect him of PEDs so he'll get in to the "Hall of Fame".

Wagner (0.998) would actually top this list with 97 more IP.
