Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 "Stop worrying about hats! We need pitching! And outfielders! And Jeffy to DIE!!" --- Mets fans on social media everywhere.

The. Fuck? To both the idea of such a garb (yeah I know the reason) and the design itself. This is an assault on the eyes. Like the orange BP unis. Just fugly!

I can imagine some of the random variations the last couple of years have been selling well. The point is that if fans refuse to buy the ugly ones then they won't be so quick to put out ugly ones (or at least the bath they'll take on the fuglies will be enough to keep them on their toes next time). But if the fans buy, regardless of aesthetics, every new design each year as if driven by some sort of sheepish or completionist urge then they'll keep changing 'em up and shoveling them out knowing they have a captive audience.Saying no to unnecessary merchandise is a powerful weapon when used correctly.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Long Beach will get their boardwalk back, but until then they have something else rare and beautiful --- blue Mets caps without the orange dots.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Maybe the Clothes Do Make the Mets...But it's their alternate blue road uniform that has become their fashion staple this year. Baseball superstition probably plays a big part in this: The Mets have a 15-10 record wearing itincluding nine wins in their past 12 games. They've worn the alternate road blues the most of any of their seven uniforms so far this season...
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Mr. Met will be appearing on the sleeves of the Mets alternate blue uniforms in 2014.http://news.sportslogos.net/2013/12/20/mr-met-added-to-new-york-mets-2014-uniforms/(That really should be "alternative uniform", by the way.)

That impressive assemblage of edifices says in no uncertain terms, "Hey, ya hicks -- NEW YORK Mets here. See the patch on our sleeve? Yer not even gonna be a patch on our Empire State Building-size ASS when we're done with your tiny, tiny town."The logo hasn't had that effect on opponents yet, but any day now.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Maybe they'll be more intimidated by a guy with a freakishly large head.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 I welcome Mr Met to the uni. It would be great if they gave pitchers the Mr. Met pitching one and the hitter the running Mr. Met though.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Eric Young can use the crying Mr. Met rain delay one since he can't hit.

Couldn't they keep the classic logo on one sleeve and put Mr.Met on the other? I mean, our regular one is the best logo in baseball. I can go with wearing em both, np. I like the Met jacket that Collins wears that has the Mr. Met on the sleeve. But thats a jacket (and if I bought one I'd still probably have the logo put on the other sleeve).

Why do I think MLB will slam that idea because it'll break the concept of the team's uniforms being ... well, all uniform?

Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Bumping this baby.OK, OK, OK. The blue jerseys have finally won me over. Not a fan of the orange piping, tho.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 i love these uniforms so much, i feel sad when they wear the other home uniforms. and i love the pinstripes and the snow whites. the camo uni... um.. no. not at all.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I love Mr. Met, although I don't think the players should wear him on their arms except for BP and Spring Training games. The camo unis are awful - I hope they abandon that sorry experiment immediately!
