TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I don't mind these blues...better than black. Like most here, I'm hoping they're not over-used.I'd be all for retiring the snow-whites now, too.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I'm not quoting you. these are general feels about the world of baseball, it has nothing to do with you. it was my opinion. If there's derision or ! it's at the sentiment I described, which is always expressed when uniforms come up. Benjamin Grimm wrote:I like them, but I hope they're not used too frequently, especially at home. Like Edgy, I prefer white at home and grey on the road.Like this. That's fine, I respect your/his opinion to prefer white and gray/grey. I'm just tired of it. I don't believe there is any need for it to be that way. there's no disrespect or tarnishing of tradition if the Mets want to have 18 uniforms and not regular schedule of how they wear them. There's nothing wrong with the black besides the idea that many don't like them. This is, again, all my opinion. any excitement is for the Mets being willing to change and not try to fit the uniform scheme into some box defined years before they even existed. I'm not really sure what's cheaply derisive about this opinion.TransMonk wrote:I don't mind these blues...better than black. I've always found the snow-whites to be extremely boring and bland.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Apparently there is more to the new look including an orange-brimmed cap. I still can't over what little the Mets are doing around this. It's not at all like the Mets to miss an opportunity to try and sell stuff and new unis is something the MFYs can never do.I'm all for tweaking the concept when the time is right, and after the Mets swing to retro with the creamy pinstripes a few years back, the next swing has got to be the future. What I'd like to see them try is a Mr. Met logo cap, or maybe a "bridge-and-skyline" inspired design.

Not specifically here or there, just in general around baseball. They've changed stuff three years running now. Didn't think have a press conference with Duda, etc modeling some of the new uniforms last year?

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I don't remember there even being any new unis last year. I thought the "cream" look was the latest till this, unless you count the stupid idea of making the blacks the same at home and road.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 This new blue alternate look was supposed to be launched last year, but they didn't get the paperwork filed in time or something, so they previewed the Spanish version instead.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 They ditched the black trim and black unis last year.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Mr. Met made it on to the field last year...he just needs to make the jump to the uni/cap.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I'd like to see Mr. Met on the uniform sleeve. This image for position players:And this image for pitchers:And I'd even reverse the image for left-handed pitchers and hitters!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 And Bono should wear this on his sleeve:
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Wait... who is that? I'm having a hard time seeing through that disguise.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 What is that, a Robin getup? So, what, does this unfortunate flea circus get to be Batman?Blue shirt's a blue shirt. Orange brims are for badly-designed company picnic wear.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Very sharp but I generally am in favor of city names on road kits, team name on home jerseys.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Phillies' Reading club rechristened as Fightin' Phils, will have the "honor" of wearingthe most on-field gear of any minor league team in history
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 wow. i'm confused about the whole home-road split - they have a specific name, mascot, uniformset, and colors for home games, and then go somewhere else entirely for road games? i mean, individually, i like each set - the home unis are really nice, and the roadies really come alive with the mustard-script (and show that black doesn't necessarily have to suck), but they're just so completely unrelated that i don't quite get it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 That's an angry wiener.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 Parts of that design are really great but is as though they couldn't decide between concepts so just said, "Eff it, we'll use them all!"I especially like the ostrich and the "mustard splatter" on the above logo. Also disheartening in that story is the bit about the same design firm doing all those different minor league clubs.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 Matt Nelson, the 24-year-old equipment manager who stands as a one man line of defense standing between the Reading Phiighting Phils and the inevitable day when there are three or four different uniform combinations on the field at once.Pedro, it's Tuesday. What's that on your head? How many times do I have to tell you? It's Hat C on Tuesdays!
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Good shot of the new cap look:

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 The white on the hat is kinda distracting to me, but at least it matches the shirt (which I like a lot). A on the jersey. C+ on the hat.Edit: What Swan man said.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 Concur on the border. A BIG downside of the black hat was the orange shadow framing the blue insignia. Borders are for collies. Orange looks great against black, and it looks great against royal.
