And Johan Santana is sporting the alternate blues.

That sexy ASG patch gets more than a little lost in there, I think.

Did they announce this today? There's been some question as to when they would get around to that.

the 'sources' have been saying today for a while actually.

There's supposed to be a road-alt too.

I guess I'm shocked that this being the Mets and the new jerseys all about merchandising for the xmas season, why they wouldn't set up a faux "fashion show" and press conference with players parading down the runway etc.

They could get Tim Gunn to say "make it work!" and have Michael Kors to give a bitchy critique. This is NYC!

Odd that they'd showcase Ronny Cedeno's jersey as a model, no?

Still think they pop, and work better than 99% of their softball-jersey brethren.

But shouldn't the fill on the away "New York" roadmark be orange (with a road-gray lining)?

That's the way they've done that in the past with road blue jerseys

Oh, yeah, I 'member. I just meant that it should be that way if it's going to match the home jersey.

I know it ain't black, but I look at these and I just see the team's signature look degrading again.

Solid color tops just say beer league softball to me.

That's kind of cheaply derisive. Why are the traditions of 30 and 40 years ago preferable?

I know. They're not. but they're not _less_ preferable.

The exact content of your previous post says they are preferable. All caps and with exclamations also.

Yeah, and I asked why. What the hell?

because I don't think there's any need to adhere to 100 year old tradition in what the team wears. I like the blue, it's ..different. it looks nice. white and gray are boring as hell.

I got that. What's with the circle jerk?

I don't know why you read derision into practically everything I write. Especially regarding this when it's often made to seem that I'm a leper or something for daring to like something that's not the way it's always been done. I don't like the haughty stance in baseball that anything new is wrong, whether it's different uniforms, more than 2 uniforms, the Wild Card or three divisions. If there's any derision it's to the concept that baseball can't do things different (or that the Mets shouldn't) because "That's not how we do things in baseball"

I don't.

That's nonsense.

I don't know who you're quoting. It's not me, I'm certain.
