Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 And Johan Santana is sporting the alternate blues. That sexy ASG patch gets more than a little lost in there, I think.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Did they announce this today? There's been some question as to when they would get around to that.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 Yeah, rollout is today.Santana stays in shape. I give him that.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 New alternate roadie:
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I guess I'm shocked that this being the Mets and the new jerseys all about merchandising for the xmas season, why they wouldn't set up a faux "fashion show" and press conference with players parading down the runway etc. They could get Tim Gunn to say "make it work!" and have Michael Kors to give a bitchy critique. This is NYC!

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 The road unis with the gray look pretty cool.I'm just ok with the home jerseys.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Odd that they'd showcase Ronny Cedeno's jersey as a model, no?
Guest Mets Guy in Michigan Guests Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Loving these jerseys!!!!!!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Still think they pop, and work better than 99% of their softball-jersey brethren. But shouldn't the fill on the away "New York" roadmark be orange (with a road-gray lining)?

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Oh, yeah, I 'member. I just meant that it should be that way if it's going to match the home jersey.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 I know it ain't black, but I look at these and I just see the team's signature look degrading again.Solid color tops just say beer league softball to me.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I like them, but I hope they're not used too frequently, especially at home. Like Edgy, I prefer white at home and grey on the road.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 MORE COLOR! More variety. less adhering to traditions designed 100 years ago!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 That's kind of cheaply derisive. Why are the traditions of 30 and 40 years ago preferable?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 we need to incorporate the traditions of the prior five and ten years! slather 'em in garish hot pink and sprinkle them with crystals. it's what the NFL would do.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 The exact content of your previous post says they are preferable. All caps and with exclamations also.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Yeah, and I asked why. What the hell?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Edgy DC wrote:Yeah, and I asked why. What the hell?because I don't think there's any need to adhere to 100 year old tradition in what the team wears. I like the blue, it's ..different. it looks nice. white and gray are boring as hell.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 because I don't think there's any need to adhere to 100 year old tradition in what the team wears.I got that. What's with the circle jerk?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 now, now, children. at least we're not going futuristic with our unis. though mercury mets throwbacks would be a hoot.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I like the road blues Gilkey is sporting. I think I can do without the orange trim.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 but the orange trim helps accentuate the orange dot.

What's with the circle jerk?I don't know why you read derision into practically everything I write. Especially regarding this when it's often made to seem that I'm a leper or something for daring to like something that's not the way it's always been done. I don't like the haughty stance in baseball that anything new is wrong, whether it's different uniforms, more than 2 uniforms, the Wild Card or three divisions. If there's any derision it's to the concept that baseball can't do things different (or that the Mets shouldn't) because "That's not how we do things in baseball"
