I'm slippin. Can't believe I correctly predicted that Cowgill would hit the 1st homer and I did not make any kabooms for him......yet.

Apart from the first game ever what is the record for debuts in one game?

Wright in the post game......"when we got Cowgill I got a bunch of texts from players and coaches that coached him saying that we would love this guy, comes to play everyday"

why do I watch this stuff?

David obviously wants

well, that was fun.

btw, I could've sworn Cowgill's grand slam was a triple. I thought it hit the bottom of the wall and was really confused especially since both the LF and Collin ran like it was in play.

A great day at the park - a Mets thumping, some Yankee loss scoreboard watching, an Italian hero from Mama's of Corona. It was nice to see Rice do so well in his debut.

I haven't gone to an Opening Day in at least twenty years, but this year's 15-game pack included either the opener or a Yankees game and I never go to the Yankees game anyway. Totally worth a vacation day.

I lurk more than I post nowadays, but it was great seeing some people from here today--MetFairy, D-Dad, KC, Greg, and Steve Rogers. Beautiful weather, at least in the beginning, great pitching, and an offensive explosion. You can't ask for much more than that!

Yeah, outfield walls that sit only a few inches in front of a structural wall behind it create too much confusion.

Proposals:

1) Pull outfield wall forward by 24 inches, allowing outfielders to make pullback plays.

2) Coat structural wall behind with a raised layer of tin, allowing for a definitive clank when the ball hits off of it.

Great to have a lundy sighting.

Great win! Experienced via fuzzy audio and dangerously viewed gamecasting as we drove home from Williamsburg, Va. today. Accident blocking West entry to the Chesapeake Bridge-Tunnel required 40 mile loop detouring us through David Wright's hometown and right past Norfolk's Harbor Park which I took as a sign. Received. Onward!

That would be the first game of the 1995 season, April 26, when nine Mets made their team debut: Edgardo Alfonzo, Brett Butler, Jerry Dipoto, Carl Everett, Brook Fordyce, Doug Henry, Blas Minor, Ricky Otero, and Bill Spiers.

Good seeing Lundy (second year in a row, I believe) and many others. Only down note to whole beautiful day was overzealous security guard who reinforced for me the folly of Jordany Valdespin not wearing a cup at the ballpark. Because with this guard on duty, you really needed one. No kidding. Very strange. My theory is with two openers happening at once, they had to bring in non-ballpark types who were probably not given proper instructions. I'm pretty familiar with the friskers and wanders where I enter and this guy was a new face/pair of hands.

Or maybe he was just happy to see me.

I don't know if 'big time' is right, but he was there. I haven't noticed him much in recent years. I know he made his way to the The7Line group at one point too.

Islanders were well represented

Our bullpen

Wright or Wrong (The cheesiness is at high levels this year)
