Maybe they were talking about complete game shutouts but that info is erroneous. Mets shut out the Phillies 3 in a row at Citi in either 2010 or 2009. I was at the third game of that series.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 Shulman reported the stat incorrectly. The Mets last shutout a single opponent three games in a row was May 25-27, 2010.The Mets' last three complete-game shutouts in a row were April 12, 14 and 15, 1988. In fairness, the third of those games was a rain-shortened 6-inning game. they were not all against the same opponent. The Mets did not have 3 consecutive shutouts in 1976, so I don't know what he is talking about.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 Shulman just issued the correction. It was 1976 that the CARDINALS were last shut out three games in a row.

Everybody sucks at the end of their career. If I knew that Bay would revert to pre-Met form, I'd want him back, naturally. But hoping for that to happen, I feel like Charlie Brown hoping that Lucy won't pull back the football right before I try and kick it.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 I would be open to platooning Bay and Ike Davis. That might be an improvement over what we have now.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 And hey! New Met sighting.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 TY guys for setting me straight on the shutouts in a row (only half here last few). I thought that sounded wacky.
