The first sign of spring to me is not the first spring training game, but the first spring training box score. (Remember when the Sporting News used to print them?)
I can hardly wait.

I had only last names for the Mets, and that was fine, as we know the Mets' A-team names a lot better than B-team Nats, but the Mets column was offputtingly narrow. So I started writing in names, but for some reason, BS starting pouring out of me. And pouring.

One name would come out stupider than the previous one. I got on a rhole and poor Josh got in the way of my stupid.

me and the mini will be watching this game with rapt attention as i try to put him to bed tonight. i'll porbably only go an inning or two deep with him, saving hte rest for tomorrow night, and the night after, etc., etc.

So great to watch Mets baseball....great to hear the ump with the exaggerated STRIIIIIIKE call...............betting Byrdek becomes a go to guy to talk to this season.....providing of course he pitches decently ....

gets the 2-6-3 DP. And they looked good turning it.

No damage. Harvey didn't really have the control but it's Spring and his first 'big' league exposure. Had some good pitches.

Speaking of blowing it open, the Mets somehow turned a 2nd and 3rd, 0 out, 3-0 count situation into a scoreless inning after Loewen whiffed and two other stiffs couldn't get it done. One guy (May?) did everything right but wound up lining out to the first baseman. Bad job by Loewen though.

I caught the first six innings on the internets and was extremely happy to have some Mets baseball back.

I'm also very happy that the black drop-shadow is nowhere to be found. Obviously, the unis have dropped it, but even the logos around the stadium and SNY's swipe graphics don't have the black anymore. Lovin' it.

Torres looked like he was ready to show he can lead off. Also, I appreciated the couple of bases the team swiped. Jose who?

This team may or may not be any good. But it does look like they will at least be entertaining to watch.
