Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Reyes to get dreads cut on MLB Network FridayBy Matt Snyder Bye bye, dreads. When star shortstop Jose Reyes signed a lucrative contract to play with the Miami Marlins for the next six years, he knew he would have to leave more than his Mets career behind. Per Marlins policy, Reyes' hair is too long and he'll have to hack off the dreads. In and of itself, that's pretty boring news -- you can look at the picture above to get a decent idea of how he'll look, even though that picture was taken back in 2003. But this is news because Reyes is making an event of cutting his hair. Its official: Jose Reyes will cut off his trademark long hair Friday on the MLB Network. More details to follow, tweeted Reyes' agent, Chris Leible Tuesday night (via Fish Tank blog). So, if this sort of thing interests you, watch Reyes' haircut on MLB Network Friday. I can't say I'll be tuning in for that, but hey, to each his own.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I miss Jose less and less each day.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I agree. I suspect he's been hanging out with LeBron James.

I think this Leible character is the agent for Jos's hair.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 He sounds more like he might be Jos's publicist. (Do ballplayers have publicists? I imagine that some of them do.)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 I'm sure most who've reached the All-Star level do --- at least so far as their agents keeping a publicity agency and/or image consultant on retainer.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I probably won't be tuning in, hair today and gone tomorrow.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Leible used to be an employee of the Mets. I know this because when I first started mbtn and wrote to them for help he was the one who wrote back.Next time I saw his name he was Fonzie's agent, orchestrating that NY Times "Thanks New York" ad when he left town. Now he looks to be preparing for a career as a douche.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 But the real question is: Will the MLB Network televise Daniel Herrea getting his hair cut off?

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Auctioning a dream date with Daniel Herrera would be the real cash cow.If he doesn't cut his locks and he sticks for a while, the Mets of late 2011 to whenever will be known to have played in the Daniel Hair Era.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Is that them in the actual park or is that a composite?
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I don't think so, images I've been seeing has those seats being greenish...
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Never mind, green is the padding color, seats are blue.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 I'm not a photographer or a layout artist or anything, but it seems like some terrible composing.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Something about the way their legs overlap doesn't look quite right.Somebody Photoshop Jeff Wilpon into that picture!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 I gotta say, I hate what it represents for the town, and I hate the fanbase that'll get treated to it... but that Marlins stadium has kinda won me over. It's like the baseball Bellagio with a sense of humor.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 I think the real shocker here is that S.I. opted for a baseball cover.Don't they usually do one in April and then another in October and figure they've hit their quota?
