Amazing how our offense knocks out starting pitchers (literally) in mid game and then suddenly shuts down as the supposedly soft middle relievers come in.
That's twice in a row now.

Nice Ike impression from YayRadley there.

I'm not certain, but I think the "kid" going for the same foul ball in the stands kicked at a prone Duda to try and dislodge that from his glove.

Bunty McBuntperson up at the plate.

Yeah, let's get the leadoff guy on in two straight innings only to dig the next batter into a 2-strike call without even swinging the bat.

But we come back and get the walk from on-base addict Josh Thole.

Now this is a bunting situation.

Best bunt in a week.

Gary is all "What does Dickey have to do to get a win?"

The Mets are not about Dickey!

Not about Isringhausen either.

Definitely NOT about Fingers or Sutter.

Two down.

Apparently, this IS all about Isringhausen.

I'm sorry, I thought the idea of having an "Ace" or at least a solid starting rotation was able to get them to rack up the wins.

I mean, then why did Philly go out and assemble one of the more historic ones?

Sure it's about the TEAM, but at the end of the day, things are a lot better when the starters have more wins than relievers do.

Don't know what you're talking about there. at all. But there's plenty of time to talk about saves after getting them. Until then, there's a game on the line.

I was following.

So was I. But I do enjoy an unnecessary explanation.

Finally, the headline we dreamed of back in 1995:

Mets Win! Izzy gets 300th!

Never would have guessed it would be saves way back then...or that 292 of them would be with other teams.

I was never more sure of anything in my life than to wake up to a Mets loss this morning. So much so in fact, I misread the Schaefer thread as a 5-4 loss.

So good on the Mets for this one. Wayne's call of the final play (listen on Mets.com) was typically rotten.

It's like he's always so careful to make every part of the play part of his call, that he can fall 10 seconds behind the action. The go-ahead run scoring was incidental to his awkward verbal wrestling over Thole getting caught off second.

WFAN played it this morning, i believe it was something like "groundball to the Shortstop, who bobbles it, and Tejada picks it up and throws to first, in time!"

(Tejada seems to bobble a billion balls..)
