Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Amazing how our offense knocks out starting pitchers (literally) in mid game and then suddenly shuts down as the supposedly soft middle relievers come in.That's twice in a row now.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Nice Ike impression from YayRadley there.I'm not certain, but I think the "kid" going for the same foul ball in the stands kicked at a prone Duda to try and dislodge that from his glove.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 They're allowed to ground into DPs too, right?I thought Tejada was going to "Ike" Duda's ankle there.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Same here. Yikes.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Bunty McBuntperson up at the plate.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Yeah, let's get the leadoff guy on in two straight innings only to dig the next batter into a 2-strike call without even swinging the bat.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 But we come back and get the walk from on-base addict Josh Thole. Now this is a bunting situation.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Gotta get this through the drawn-in infield.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Well, not quite ... but it worked anyway.Woulda been nice if Thole read that better.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 WHYWHYWHY pitch around Orlando Hudson again?
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Also interesting, Rollie and Sutter are the only ones of that list to not play in the bigs since 1990.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Definitely NOT about Fingers or Sutter. Two down.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Oh I hope that play doesn't burn us.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Fuck the 300th - the 5-game losing streak is over!!
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Apparently, this IS all about Isringhausen.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 I'm sorry, I thought the idea of having an "Ace" or at least a solid starting rotation was able to get them to rack up the wins.I mean, then why did Philly go out and assemble one of the more historic ones?Sure it's about the TEAM, but at the end of the day, things are a lot better when the starters have more wins than relievers do.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Don't know what you're talking about there. at all. But there's plenty of time to talk about saves after getting them. Until then, there's a game on the line.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Finally, the headline we dreamed of back in 1995:Mets Win! Izzy gets 300th!Never would have guessed it would be saves way back then...or that 292 of them would be with other teams.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I was never more sure of anything in my life than to wake up to a Mets loss this morning. So much so in fact, I misread the Schaefer thread as a 5-4 loss.So good on the Mets for this one. Wayne's call of the final play (listen on Mets.com) was typically rotten.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 It's like he's always so careful to make every part of the play part of his call, that he can fall 10 seconds behind the action. The go-ahead run scoring was incidental to his awkward verbal wrestling over Thole getting caught off second.
