Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 I never quite got down how to pronounce his name. He'll go down in the annals with Mike Howard and Gary Matthews as opening day starters who disappeared shortly after.Don Zimmer is their patron saint.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 He refused to change his number in ST until he made the team. He sucked, then had a good week, management said "there's our guy!", he changed his number, and reverted to sucking.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 First blot on the credibility of J.P. Riccardi. Hopefully the second one will be a long time in coming.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Showed some range during home-opening weekend, IIRC, with a couple of nice diving/scooting plays.I don't know about much more by way of memories, but he may just haunt my dreams on days when my subconscious lets its guard down. "Hi. Do you have any pets or nonverbal children that need tending?"
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Couldn't hit and didn't have much with the glove either.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Losta Ks and lotsa bobbles at 2B. He made me yearn for Justin Turner...and I'm not a fan of Justin Turner.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 He looked like Chipper Jones..but without the talent.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Assumed he'd be Don Bosch, thought maybe he could be Tim Teufel. Now he's just gone.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 He sucked. Then he got shitcanned. NEXT.

We needed a 2Bman (or at least badly wanted a replacement for the unpopular incumbent) and he was worth a shot. On-line discussions of the Rule 5 labeled Emaus as one of the better bets to stick. That he didn't is disappointing but hardly tragic. The majority of these guys never stick and fewer still emerge as stars.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 He was in the Opening Day lineup. I thought that was a big honor for a small bat.

Maybe I'm wrong about that.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Well, we offered him that six year, $100 million contract. That's going to be a tough one to eat.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 The public not too hung up on J.P. Ricciardi one way or the other at this juncture.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Emaus must have impressed the Rockies during the Rockies visit to CitiField--they traded for him today.

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 The Rockies traded a AA reliever who'll soon be 28 to get a guy who was a starting major leaguer last week. I'm sure we could have found a similar spare part to maintain the rights to Emaus. That being said, I wonder what the Rockies are planning to do with Eric Young Jr.
