bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 http://www.metsblog.com/2011/04/02/cashman-mets-abused-pedro-feliciano/Perhaps you should have thought about this before you signed him as a free agent.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Was just going to post this@jimbaumbachCashman said Pedro Feliciano was "abused" by the Mets' use of him in recent years.fuck you Cashman...
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Question to Cashman:If you thought he might be damaged goods, then why did you sign him?And if you signed him because you felt he was healthy, then STFU.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 When asked at various times this past winter whether it was hard to take a pass on re-signing Pedro Feliciano, Sandy Alderson always gave a quick and direct "not at all".
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Although, the Mets did offer him arbitration.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 It's not getting as much play, but they Yankees have also noted recently that Twinkies have recklessly abused Bartolo Colon, age has been heartlessly abusive towards Derek Jeter, and Hank Steinbrenner is constantly abusing himself.Na, this isn't really much of story.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Wow, just read that on espn.com. What the hell? That's more than just whiny...douchy in my book.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Although, the Mets did offer him arbitration.Sure, but that's a safer route (only one year) and was mainly designed so as to eek a draft pick out of what was likely to be a declined offer. Once he got on the open market there was little interest. What this rant is about is the usual: "we're the Yanquis and we don't make mistakes" bullshit - and so if signings go bad it must be someone else's fault.- Kei Igawa "wasn't the same pitcher we saw in Japan"- Carl Pavano was a good pitcher but we couldn't know in advance that he couldn't handle NYC- we were shocked, SHOCKED that [insert Cuban player here] was older than we thought (so was El Duque but that worked out well so it was a brilliant signing)
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Cashman says Felciano was overused but doesn't blame the Mets..huh??? Buyer before dolt..http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2011/04/yankees_reliever_pedro_felicia_1.html
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 It's not like his inning totals were some kind of great secret. WTF?
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Brian Cashman can go abuse himself.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Brilliant from Wharten , videohttp://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/18398/video-warthen-amused
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 It probably only confuses things that MFY team doctors have players describe pain using "show me where it hurt you" felt dolls.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I like to delude myself that Feliciano is on the DL for the first time in his career because the thought of actually pitching for the Yankees makes him physically sick. Just keep cashing their checks Pedro.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Zip it and make with the draft pick, Brian. Thanks.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 Or, as Lupica points out today: ... did Cashman tackle Scott Proctor in the old days when Joe Torre was running him out there every day?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 When deciding whether to run a pitcher out there, your first oblitgation is to the:a. team's prospects for the game.b. team's prospects for the season.c. fans.d. pitcher's career.e. Yankees.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Feliciano likely to miss a year+ with shoulder surgery. Cashman to blame Steinbrenners for "abusing" $8 million.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Feel somewhat bad for Feliciano but absolutely chuffed to bits for the MFYs and Cashman.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Or, as Lupica points out today: ... did Cashman tackle Scott Proctor in the old days when Joe Torre was running him out there every day?Cashman said today that he tried to get Torre to stop and actually talked to Proctor about it.The guy has totally lost his filter in public.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Did he try and block him from throwing Quantrill and Gordon every day also?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Can we have Mike Stanton's year of suck back too, then? Go eff yourself, Yankees.Condolences on the loss of Pedro... what that means is that he's a True Met.

Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 Also, I heard a brief bit on Michael Kay's show, during one of the commercials for the Mets "game". Don't know who they were talking to but whoever it was said that the weakness in the shoulder showed up in physical they gave Feliciano. And again later. So it sounds like what he needed was more rest to start with, and them using him in Spring Training was actually what caused the real damage.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 You know, it's hateful and selfish and shameful of me for this to have crossed my mind, but this injury may allow Pedro to maintain his Mets-and-only-Mets stateside resume, despite having now been property of five different organizations.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 I thought of it too. My daughter was jubilant at the thought!
