metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 so i generate three metrics in the course of my schaefer voting:1. marathon points, which can be positive or negative and are deterministic. 2. schaefer points, which are the six highest marathon points for a given game, and are deterministic.3. schaefer votes, which are those same schaefer points, scaled to 10 ok, really they're scaled to 9.5 with a 0.5 vote bonus to the highest vote-getter, unless the schaefer points don't total more than 19, in which case i just halve the schaefer points and nobody gets a bonus. its complicated... ike davis has about a 10% lead in each of these categories, with reyes, wright, and beltran taking second in each metric respectively. without winding up the 'bot, i can tell you that ike also has a 20% lead in both his voting and the baseline WPA metric. for summary:mpspsvbotwpaplayer 1davis82.8davis96.5davis22.6davis30.3davis1281player 2reyes66.5wright84.8beltran19.8wright23.8murphy744pitcher 1rodriguez41.7rodriguez48.7beato13beato6.9isringhausen413pitcher 2beato39.8beato39.3rodriguez10.5rodriguez6.5young278reliever 1rodriguez41.7rodriguez48.7beato13beato6.9isringhausen413reliever 2beato39.8beato39.3rodriguez10.5rodriguez6.5rodriguez235

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Checking my sheet, I've got Davis/Beato/Beato. No starter really came close to him. Niese is 14th, Young, 15th, Dickey 18th, Capuano 26th, and Pelfrey 30th.

Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Dillon Gee should get some extra sips of Schaefer for the May 7th game, considering that he was an emergency fill-in starter.

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 in the game on the 9th, how did chris capuano's batting (or decided lack thereof) factor into the voting?
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 metsmarathon wrote:in the game on the 9th, how did chris capuano's batting (or decided lack thereof) factor into the voting? It didn't for me - I gave him points purely on his pitching.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 It's rare for me to give a player 6 points for a game. But tonight I'm giving Carlos Beltran 6 points. He was The Man in this game!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 No doubt about it, especially given that so little of the pitching was Schaefer-worthy.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 hmm. i'm kindof surprised i gave beltran so low a score. that i gave points out to 7 players instead of the regular 6 was a big hit to him, but the tie for 6th forced my hand! i will say that, on an absolute scale, beltran's was the highest rated game i have on record this season. unfortunately for him, i vote on a relative scale.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2011 Author Posted May 16, 2011 Voting for Thursday afternoon's win in Colorado (Carlos Beltran's Big Day) will close on Tuesday morning. This game appears to be fully voted, but I'm posting this notice anyway, as required by statute. It looks like some of the games that were played in Houston this weekend are still lacking some votes. I'll post official notice tomorrow; the games will close on Wednesday. If you have votes to cast for any of those games, please try to get them in today or tomorrow.Schaefer POTG 5/12/11 - Mets 9, Rockies 5
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 I was thinking that my 5.15 would ruin perfection for Beltran, then m.e.t.b.o.t. comes through with a 3.5. That little robot has a cold metal heart.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 I guess metbot is solidly on the "Blame Beltran" bandwagon. 1.81 points for Niese seems excessive, particularly if his cushion to give up those five runs was provided by almost exclusively by Beltran.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 i don't get the "pelfrey 5, nothing to nobody else" for monday night's loss to the fish. i understand an unwillingness to hand out barley pop to the batters, given that we mustered only one run through 11 innings. but what of the pitchers, save igarashi and byrdak?was izzy's 2/3 of an inning stranding an inherited runner not good? and o'connor's two-strikeout tenth? and, of course, what of jon niese hitting a triple there? was that all useless because jose reyes couldn't drive him in? i ask you, if jose manages to poke a single there, driving in niese, would your schaefer tally then be pelfrey 5 reyes 5? or was the performance of our pitchers only worthy of a beer if we win the game? the outcome of the game neither defines nor negates the efforts of the players.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I hate this thread. Almost as much as I hate doling out Schaefer points in a loss.metsmarathon wrote:the outcome of the game neither defines nor negates the efforts of the players.I disagree with this statement. Pelf did all the heavy lifting and got shafted by his offense.
